Posted by: hiron - 02-04-2015, 02:08 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (1)

Hello you guys, nice to meet you. Well, having questions are now using a MFI certificeted controller "Horipad" see also: ttp://afterpad.com/post/85115844500/new-horipad-mfi-game-controller-coming-soon This one has already selled Japan and using. When playing PPSSPP's games with that one which don't have any problems. It works very well.

By the way, do you know How I can use a Dualshock3 sixaxis for PPSSSPP.
I mean pairing-mode or something might be made? I have already BTSTACK andControllers for all can use other emulators. Only PPSSPP doen't work. Thank you.

Sad [SOLVED] Working on PC, cannot find executable on Android
Posted by: Blegh - 02-04-2015, 09:17 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (8)

Hey guys and girls.

So after a massive amount of ballache sorting it all out I've got my first two ISO's (first time trying to emulate on my phone so I can carry less stuff).
Patapon 2 and Disgaea.

I tested it on the PC version of PPSSPP and they work fine, excellent, I'm happy.

So I put them onto my SD card and slot it into my android phone (Sony Z2).. After a bit of a cuffuffle trying to find the files on my SD card, There must be like 3 SD folders even though only SD1 is a memory card wtf is with that?
Anyway I find the folder on my phone and in the folder are 2 grey boxes with ? on them for thumbnails.

When I click them it says "Could not load game. Could not find executable disc0/PSP_Game/SYSDIR/BOO".. then the screen cuts it off.
Wondering if I'd corrupted it transfering it or disconnecting the USB/Micro SD doodad, I removed the SD card transfered them back over to the PC and tested them again they worked fine...

Am I storing them in the wrong place? I just made a PPSSPP folder on my SD card.
Is there an issue that means PPSSPP can't read them off my SD card? From what I've read trying to find a fix this, it isn't the case.
Or is it just that the two games I've tried to convert just don't work with Android or something??

PPSSPP in true SBS stereo for Google Cardboard and similar(PC -> Phone)
Posted by: Blyss Sarania - 02-03-2015, 06:30 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (2)

So I discovered that with the D3D9 Backend, PPSSPP is now compatible with things like Tridef and IZ3D for side by side stereo. I thought I would post a very basic guide of how to set all this up for google cardboard for TRUE stereo.

Hardware you need:
Powerful PC
Powerful android phone
Google cardboard or similar(I use ColorCross headset)

Steps:

1. Go to http://www.iz3d.com/driver and download and install the IZ3D driver trial. You can also do this with Tridef, but Iz3d has better results IMO. Install it.

2. Get a software called Trinus Gyre for both your Phone(Android only) and PC. You can get the server from: http://oddsheepgames.com/trinus/?download# and the client is on the play store. I recommend using the free test version which has a 10 minute limit until you see if this set up is right for you.

3. Enable the iz3d driver in it's control panel. Set the output mode to Side by Side. Run PPSSPP and set the backend to D3D9 if it's not already. The IZ3d wizard will start, just ignore it for now

4. Start the Trinus Gyre Server. Set it up like this for now:

(You may need to lower the quality if your machine can't keep up).

5. If possible, USB tether your phone to your PC. Else connect with direct WIFI hotspot. Normal WIFI will lag badly

6. Start the Trinus Gyre Client on your phone. Leave it set up default.

7. Push the power like button on both client and server. It should start streaming.

8. Use the lense correction buttons to set up the warping and scaling properly for your phone - I can't help you here as it's different for each phone.

9. Make PPSSPP the active window

10. Put on your headset and follow the set up in the Iz3d wizard.

11. Profit

Well, as I said that's a very simple guide for getting true VR experience from PPSSPP. I have a video demo uploading, I'll post that in a bit. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Alright, here is a video:

Note this is true stereo - the images aren't just duplicated, IZ3D intercepts the Z buffer info and changes the positioning of stuff relative to each eye.

Bug Crash on Android x86
Posted by: AndrMatr - 02-02-2015, 09:03 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (2)

I have no idea where to put this. I installed Android x86 on an old Lenovo Travelmate. I installed PPSSPP just fine, but I couldn't open it. I know that the .apk is compiled for ARM, but there should be something for this. I don't know if the devs want to work on this or what.

Another thing is that I tried to do an offline install with the .deb packages on a sparkling new install of Ubuntu 14.10 and it crashed. The Lenovo I am using (the same one that I loaded Android x86 on) is incapable of internet at the moment, and I was wondering if there is a way to offline install PPSSPP.

  [Linux] AMD/ATI, NVIDIA Open-source VS Close-source discussion
Posted by: Succubi - 02-02-2015, 05:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (4)

Hello,
I despise of making threads similar to this without giving a decent sum amount of information, but I've decided that this topic might actually be a bit of important chatter when it comes to performance and handling of certain games.

So the basic question is, has anyone done a comparison of how more demanding games run when handled between the opensource and closedsource drivers on both NVIDIA and AMD/ATI?

For starters, I run a laptop on Arch Linux with an AMD A4-4300M APU@ 2.5GHz [Radeon HD 7420G], and I've seen major stutters and issues with fullscreen on 2D/Lesser 3D games such as Persona, Yggdra Union, Disgae Series but Major Improvements on framerate and speed on games such as Monster Hunter Series (60/60 on 4x PSP size and 16x AF)

Most relevant change I can admit from jumping from open source to closer source was Disgae, which dropped from 60 FPS at the coffin scene at the start of the game to stuttery 30~40 FPS.

  PPSSPP 1.0
Posted by: Henrik - 02-01-2015, 08:06 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (95)

1.0 has been released!

Obviously, this doesn't mean that every bug has been fixed, but it's still an important milestone. Just look at the list of new features:

Code:
* Many, many bug fixes in JIT and elsewhere, improving compatibility * Proper fix for Zenfone and related devices * Direct3D 9 supported as a rendering backend on Windows, helps on old GPUs and can be faster than OpenGL in many cases * You can now create specific configs per game * FPU rounding modes much better supported, fixes the Peace Walker boss that was undefeatable. NOTE: This breaks saves in Gods Eater - you must turn off the better rounding, load your save game, turn it on and save. * The JIT now uses SSE on x86, improving speed considerably. This does not affect ARM devices, that's for the next version or two. * Improved audio output code on both Windows and Android, reducing audio latency on Windows and on some Android systems * FFMPEG upgraded, fixed some music hangs ("GHA phase shifts") * Some Ad Hoc improvements, coldbird.net is now default adhoc server. Ad Hoc still unfinished and hard to use. * Graphics fixes: Bezier/spline drawing fixes, vertex position fixes, DanganRonpa on Adreno fixed, flat shading fixed, vertex cache improved, some PowerVR blockiness issues fixed, screen scaling filter added, Google Cardboard support * Simulate UMD speed better, fixing hangs in several games * More Atrac3 fixes, fixing hangs * Somewhat better disk full handling * Fixes to dynamic unloading of code, fixing problems in GEB and TRM 2/3 * Updated to SDL2 where applicable (Linux, Mac) * Some new features, like analog/dpad-swap hotkey, graphics hack for Phantasy Star, show last bit of debug log in dev tools, etc

And many more!

Enjoy!
