RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Hello,

Using win32 1.0.1-459-g43eaffb and the european version of the game, no cheat enabled.

I loaded a save state and got a black screen instead of the gameplay.
Looked at the console and noticed this :

I don't use much save/load states on this game, but each time i did it previously i never ran into this bug.

edit : didn't managed to reproduce it, all my further save state then load state attempt have worked so far without a problem, not sure why this one didn't.

Yes, SP is working fine with this. I still don't know about CO-OPS, though. Can anyone please test this in CO-OPS?

A friend and I have been playing Peace Walker co-op to finish up the extra ops, we noticed your post a few days ago and tried 60 FPS while continuing to play co-op.

From what we can tell, 60 FPS works mostly fine in co-ops. We only noticed a couple issues in the game itself, and not related to co-ops.

The extra op with the objective of shooting 25 trucks is impossible to do with 60 FPS enabled, the trucks speed up to a much higher speed and is only possible to finish by switching back to 20 FPS. Guns also fire faster at 60 FPS, which isn't too much of an issue.

Co-Ops itself works fine if both players are set to 60 FPS, but the host will sometimes drop to 30 FPS for a few seconds during some level transitions, but will re-sync when the host resumes back to 60 FPS.

RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Using win32 1.0.1-459-g43eaffb and the european version of the game, no cheat enabled.

I got another of those load state problem.
This time i was fighting one of the post-endgame extra ops in which you battle the Cocoon II
After a long fight, finally i reach the point in which the thing finally drop the ladders.

So before climbing on top, i decide to make a save state in case i do something stupid as i really don't want to get through that long boring fight again for some silly mistep, so i press Start to pause the game and press F2 to make the save state.

I get on, fight more and stupidly move a bit too much near the border of the machine and fall on the ground, instead of just re-climbing, i decide to simply press F4 to reload my save state.

And horror, instead of getting me back in the game ... black screen, relaunching PPSSPP and reloading the game does nothing help , the load state will not get me back in that battle, only the black screen.
I attach the screenshot of the error i can see in the log.

And you can download the actual save state i uploaded on that dropbox link

EDIT : finally replayed the battle, with more rocket launchers in order to destroy those guns and exhaust quicker, then i decided to make a save state test by doing the following regularly during the battle

- battle for a while
- press Start to pause then press F2, wait a bit
- press Start again, play a few then press F4

I did this a dozen of time and no problem.

Now i was at the same point as before, the Cocoon II was down to low health enough so it ram into a wall and it drop the ladders.

- press Start to pause, press F2 and wait a bit.
- i move toward the ladders, climb up, then press F4
*black screen and impossible to play further*

A look into the log show the exact same error.
So i guess there's something that happens at that point of the battle that confuse PPSSPP state saving/loading and make the saved state failing to load. Not sure what it can be, as while the error seems to hint at the audio, my save state wasn't made in the middle of some audio dialogue or in the middle of a music track change.

In the latest dev builds I've tried, the game will crash back to the Android GUI on my Shield TV once I try to change my weapon by pressing left on the d-pad. Must be something with the AArch64 build.

RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Client crash on the loading screen after the cutscene showing the truck carrying nukes leaving into the tunnel, and the t-72 tank shooting at your traincart.

Tried the latest public and dev build, and the result is the same.
Is this a known issue I could work around?

EDIT: It appears to be triggered by finishing missions, any mission, not just the one I described. Even on a new game, it crashes on the loading screen after finishing the intro mission. Very much frustrating.

RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
I just tested again by playing the "Pursue the Jungle Train" story mission (the one that end with the cutscene in which the T72 shoot the train and block the exit after the trucks left, that you observed to crash) and the mission completed correctly for me .

Here's what i'm using if you want to give it a try :
PPSSPP 1.0.1 - 676 - g7dbe282 , win32
I'm playing with PPSSPP on PC (i don't have phone/tablet anyways), can make a difference due to different hardware.
I'm using the european version of Peace Walker, but it shouldn't have an importance.
I'm using the D3D9 backend (as it gives me better performance on Peace Walker than OpenGL , very noticable in the cutscenes that involve lots of weather effects) , that can be important.

Here's my PPSSPP settings (i don't use a specific config for Peace Walker, so it use my base PPSSPP settings) :

Give them a try to see if the crash can be related to the settings you're using.

RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Your settings appear to have fixed the issue. I made a new save and could complete the first mission without the program crashing on mission completion.
With my previous settings even a new save would trigger the crash.

I'm going to fiddle with the settings and see if I can find a middleground. 3D9 made the game run like shit, so if it isn't OpenGL that's causing the issue I'm sticking with that.

I greatly appreciate your help.

RE: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
Good to see that's fixing your problem.

On my PPSSPP most of my games ( Monster Hunter FU and 3, Dissidia, SvR 2011, ...) run better with D3D9 , while a few run better with OpenGL ( God Eater Burst or Tenchu Shadow Assassin that both run much better in OpenGL for me).

If you can find which setting was responsible of your crash, please report it as i'm sure the devs would be very interested to find which settings can be a source of crash.
