Posted by: sagman76 - 10-09-2021, 04:43 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - No Replies

Nvidia shield tablet on lineage 15.1.all was fine on 1.11 but upgraded to 1.12 and tried latest nightly but ipega controller doesn't work in gui or games. It's recognised and can map it. Rolled back for now.

(gow/dante) Use the stick to dodge
Posted by: ChadWarden - 10-09-2021, 08:21 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - No Replies

Hello,
I want to use the right stick to dodge in the two god of war (and in dante's inferno) but to dodge, you need to press R+L and use the left stick. I tried a lot of different binding with no succes.

Is this possible to do and if yes, how ? Thanks

They ruined the ppsspp 1.12 mapper
Posted by: antonioks - 10-08-2021, 10:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (1)

Nooooooooo they spoiled the ppsspp mapper which was perfect, who had this idea???? I updated to 1.12 and my xbox 360 controller on my android tv box which was all set to ppsspp 1.11.3 and working perfect, then I had to remove the 1.12 I bought and go back to the previous version 1.11.3 because of a smart that it is resolved to play with the pitiful mapper. We want to collaborate by buying the gold version but this makes it more complicated.

  Rendering backend question
Posted by: Shady Guy Jose - 10-08-2021, 11:27 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (2)

Hi! I'm sorry if this has been asked to death, as I assume it's a common question, but I can only find 8-year old information.

I use PPSSPP on two devices. Mainly my phone (OnePlus 9 Pro, Snapdragon 888, running at 1440p120) but occasionally on my desktop PC (i7-4770K OCd to 4.4 GHz, 32 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM, newly added RTX 3080 GPU, on a 2160p60 display).

I'd like to know what the differences between rendering backends currently are. On Android, I assume Vulkan is outright better, since OpenGL driver support has always been spotty, even if Adreno GPUs are the "least horrible" of the bunch, at least until AMD on Exynos comes out. However, on Windows, I see that D3D9 and 11 are available, and I assume OpenGL works better than on Android, at least with an nVidia GPU, so I'm a bit lost. I've read that D3D didn't support post-processing shaders, but it was old info. Is there anything that I can read up on, or does anyone have some insight into this? Whatever default you guys recommend, are there any games that I should watch out for and choose a different backend specifically for them? I'm just trying to figure out what to use.

Thanks in advance

1.12 controller not working in game or menus
Posted by: quazimojo - 10-06-2021, 11:44 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (9)

I just installed this latest build and thanks for all the hard work but my controller isn't working in the menu or in game. This is the first build that it won't work. I checked all the settings even did an auto detect, it finds the controller and I can even map the controller but when I'm back in the menu or in game nothing responds. Hopefully I'm overlooking something simple. I reverted back to the play store build and everything worked again so not sure.

Thank you

  PPSSPP 1.12 is out!
Posted by: Henrik - 10-06-2021, 06:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (8)

Finally a new release! PPSSPP now supports Android 12 and the new Android storage model, "Scoped Storage". For more details on what that means, see this guide.

As usual, the Android version will be rolled out gradually, you'll see it in the Play Store within a week.

In addition to fully supporting Android 12, PPSSPP 1.12 includes a lot of bugfixes and new features. From new UI background options to a lot of game fixes, and for those of you adventurous enough to try the experimental multiplayer support, it works better than ever. Thanks to all the contributors who made this all possible!

The list is way too long to display here in full this time, but here's an assortment of improvements since 1.11:

* Support for Android 12 Scoped Storage
* Lots of updated UI, like a new joystick calibration system and many new touch control options, new backgrounds
* Built-in CRC calculator, to be able to check with others that your ISO is valid
* Many, many multiplayer fixes
* Numerous game fixes
* Savestate Undo for both load and save
* Many graphical glitches fixed, and new texture filtering option Auto Max Quality for smooth texturing
* New audio options, like choose whether to switch to newly plugged in devices, reverb volume, etc
* And much more!

Go to https://www.ppsspp.org for the download as usual, or get it on the Play Store as it rolls out.

  30fps, only 25% cpu... on a WATCH!
Posted by: clort78 - 10-05-2021, 07:06 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (1)

After some SNESdroid RPG action, I thought what the heck and installed PPSSPP (1.11.3) on my THor 4 android watch.

It's a low-midrange smartwatch about two years old, with a cheap CPU MTK6739 @ 1.5ghz, 1GB RAM.

Setup screen streaming and pc keyboard control with scrcpy and ran Ao No Kiseki.

Thought I'd share the results with you.

http://0x0.st/-gyv.mkv
(H265 Video 11.4MB)

With a 320x320screen, it's rendering to 1x resolution. FPS only dropped below 30 on heavier spells like Aerial... All while streaming h264 Big Grin Big Grin

Surfaceflinger was only using 7%, for a total of about 32-35% cpu use - emulating PSP!

Now for comparison, VLC, only playing a 16kbps .opus audio file (no video) uses 15% and 12% surfaceflinger (wth?).

AMAZING emulator Hydr. We are not worthy! Smile

Help with Upscaling fonts in FFIV Complete
Posted by: dpc76 - 10-04-2021, 05:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (3)

Hello all, long time lurker/new poster...

I've been working on creatin an HD texture replacement for the fuzzy low-res fonts in Final Fantasy IV complete edition. I'm completely new to working with textures, and was unable to find a lot of good resources/tutorials for fixing fonts in games, so I was hoping to get some tips from the community.

The game uses a font map like many. I tried to upscale the font map using programs like Waifu2x and ESRGAN but the results weren't very good (note: I'm new to these programs, so it may be my inexperience)

Instead, I've turned to using Photoshop to literally replace the text in the font map. This was time consuming and required a lot of trial and error, since small deviations can change the alignment of the fonts or make them look like garbage.

I've had some success, but I do end up with occasional artifacts in the text that I cannot seem to fix.

Does anyone have any tips for working with texture replacement for font maps in ppsspp? I know some may have done this for other texture packs - I'm curious how you accomplished it. Any information will be helpful - in turn, with some guidance, I may be able to complete this project for the texture replacement section. Thanks

PPSSPP and PCSX2 messing with each other
Posted by: NagitoErgoSum - 09-30-2021, 04:58 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (2)

I noticed that if I use PCSX2 (on Win 10 64-bit) and then try to use PPSSPP, it will not work. Restarting the computer solves the issue, so it's not that big of a deal, but does anyone know what could cause this and if there's a better solution? I guess there's some cache file that gets cleared when restarting but I have no idea where to look.

  no update for macOS?
Posted by: Supreme_Shade - 09-22-2021, 06:36 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - No Replies

Hey guys. ive been using the PPSSPP emulator for a while and i have no problems until now. it keeps telling me to update it but i can't. I see there are updates for windows and iOS and android.. everything expect for mac, did anything happen?

for example, i play Midnight Club L.A. Remix and for the first quarter of the game everything works. but after a while things don't load at all. you cant get past any loading screens, even the 'go to menus' one. the frame rate drops from 98 to 0/0 and stays there. the game itself is completely frozen and i can't do absolutely anything. maybe it has something to do with me running and older version of the emulator?

thank you Big GrinHuhSad
