Phones will start shipping with Armv8 64-bit Chipsets from mid 2014. This will be on par with PC's. Enough power to make good things happen Smile

Realy? That would be awesome Big Grin

In the NVIDIA Shield/Tegra 4 and the Snapdragon 800 this emulators run a lot better. I prefer NVIDIA Shield cuz its controls.

RE: ps2 emulator on android
The Dreamcast one isn't natively for android its splash top...so that's irrelevant.. I may as well use a PC emu if I had one currently.. the point of this thread was emus for android.

RE: ps2 emulator on android
Not even 4 Snapdragon 800's are enough to emulate PS2 on Android. You have to wait for a drastic change in the architecture of mobile device's CPUs and GPUs.

RE: ps2 emulator on android
Many people here obviously are just copying others, a ps2 emulator will be around in 1-2 years. We will have 3Ghz + phones..

RE: ps2 emulator on android
Many people said that it was not possible to emulate PS2, now we PCSX2. Many people said that Android only emulated 64-bit consoles, today we PPSSPP. If anyone try a PS2 emulator, we will never find out. I think ARMv8 of 2.5Ghz + Quad Core GPU and OpenGL 3.0 with similar performance with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 already runs about 30 VPS. If someone competent (as Henrik) make a PS2 emulator when we have this setup will run well. I believe PCSX2 has many errors that hinders performance. But this will only happen in late 2014 over there.

The HD Graphics 3000 can run God of War very well:

He use the Core i5 2410M 2.3Ghz. With a Quad Core 2.5Ghz+ ARMv8 we will get ALMOST the same performance. Maybe the half speed, I think.

how do you read the whole post, the guy want to make a good thing but what they doing is just some argument whether he has to make or not, also like @VIRGIN KLM say,it more good if him start new code rather than porting code from origlnal pcsx2,also make it easy at github(there many people out there want to at least contribute),why they just say that emulation kinda impossible(don't view new emulator as old emulator, new is new, that mean something new is included in new emularor, and maybe could bypass the mutual fate creating by illusion which state emulating pcsx2 is really impossible on arm),not that they have try doing it anyway.
it really good that someone really want to port pcsx2(i hope it could be new code instead),so I give my support if he start doing itSmile

Good luck with that. Let's see how much time it takes until it reaches operational state (at least until the emulator could run the BIOS, just like what they said there)

RE: ps2 emulator on android
operational state in BIOS/boot etc not to long imo.. but playable speeds about 3/4 years if we are lucky.. any of today's super phones won't stand a chance maybe 20/30% speed and that's bein generous..

Maybe longer depending how many devs are working on it..
That's why Henrik did it right, he always knew he could achieve this project but he also knew that with contribution.. it would be a hell a lot quicker.. If Henrik was working on this on his own we wouldn't be anywhere near as far along as it is now.

Dude the emulation of pcsx2 is much harder than that of ppsspp.

No matter what happens never give up.Nothing is impossible.
