RE: God of War - Chains of Olympus on the LG G4
That is very surprising given the Adreno 418 in that device, but then Qualcomm has pretty crappy drivers to begin with. The God of War games are also pretty demanding on emulation needs as well.

RE: God Of War:Chains Of Olympus
Hello, I've just started using ppsspp recently and I'm using it on Android Galaxy S6.
I'm using fixed 30fps from this thread http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=22159

In buffered mode with frameskipping set to 1 and Auto I can play game and it runs 12-20/30 fps and 90-100 speed because of auto frameskipping.
This is not smooth, but OK and playable.

If I switch to non buffered rendering game is silky smooth 30/30 fps without frameskipping, but I get black sky and square boxes around orbs.
Sorry I'm new to this, but is this expected behaviour in GoW with non buffered rendering? One post was mentioning fixing square boxes by actually switching to non buffered mode.

Thank you very much!

RE: God Of War:Chains Of Olympus
There's a cheat that fix some issues in non-buffer rendering mode too in another thread I didn't find. Anyway, don't expect great graphics, as this option is a GPU speed hack that skips some graphic effects.

If you want to play with Buffer Rendering, don't use too high resolution, seems like you're using a higher one, remember that:

1xPSP = 480x272
2xPSP= 960x544
3xPSP= 1440x816 (HD standard is 1280x720)
4xPSP = 1920x1088 (Full HD is 1920x1080)
Auto(1:1) = Native device resolution (Galaxy S6 is quad-HD res)

The higher the resolution, the higher the GPU will be pushed. For a 5 to 6 inches screen HD resolution should be fine, so 3x is more than enough. I believe your GPU can handle 3xPSP pretty well, my weak J7 runs 2xPSP with some slowdown, it's too weak compared to yours. But you must test and check the results by yourself.

RE: God Of War:Chains Of Olympus
The numbers I've provided I get by running at 2xPSP resolution. If I go 1xPSP I gain few extra fps, but it is still not 30/30 and it looks very blocky.
Thanks for the answer though. It's probably just the nature of this game.

That's weird, you should run with a higher resolution fine. Maybe it's your GPU driver version, mine is r7p0, an older version that works better than later versions, Galaxy S6 uses newer versions. Anyway Mali drivers are very poor.

RE: God Of War:Chains Of Olympus
Well I've downloaded GFXbench, ran it and got 295 frames.
In API details it reads OpenGL ES 3.2 v1.r15p0. Is that the version of drivers you are talking about?

Yes, r15p0 is the most recent, if I'm not wrong. Mali drivers miss a lot of OpenGL features that are used by PPSSPP and Dolphin Emulator, some of them were removed on newer versions, that's why they generally perform bad on Mali devices.

Well looks like Mali is really crap for PPSSPP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8n2JJGdJ64 Even on S8 it lags like hell, unless you have snapdragon version

RE: God Of War:Chains Of Olympus
Snapdragon 835 runs it at full speed. Snapdragon 820/821 runs nearly full speed. Exynos chips have good CPUs, but crap GPUs.

Hi, i Bought an S9 and i tought i could play GoW CoO at full speed but im playing mostly 60 FPS with some random slowdowns.

The slowdowns are kinda loading new textures? if i wait a few seconds on the same spot will return to 60 fps.

The problem it is very common even in combat, is there any setting i am missing if 835 can run it without issues?

Thanks!

Edit: Solved my slowdowns by disabling "Preventing 60 FPS GoW" option

Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Rom: Stock, non rooted.

It keeps crashing on start up on Android. I can't go to the menu screen (but I can load my old save states). GOW ghost of sparta worked fine btw. I'm using the lastest version.
