RE: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
That is really wierd, I tried latest rev (v0.8.1-232), turned off all unnecesarry programs, and it's still not working.
I have radeon HD5850 gpu, but I turned everything in Control center off.
Everything in the game is OK so far, except for that one battle.

Try it on another computer. If it does not work, the iso file may be corrupted.

RE: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Hi, I'm new to posting here and I love the work you guys put into helping.

I'm having a problem with screen blinking when I have frame skipping set to 2. I can play fine without the blinking at 1 but I lose about 15-20 fps in towns and loading. Where as at 2 loading and fps is perfect. Is there anyway to get around this?

Hello, and welcome to the forums, mate!

If you don't mind, we need a little preliminary information to get the ball rolling.

1. What ppsspp build are using? (e.g. ppsspp-v0.8.1-370-g87f6d14-windows, the precise build please)

2. What device are you using it on? (PC/laptop/handphone). Precise details would be welcome.

3. What is your platform? (Windows/Android/iOS)

Thanks in advance for your answers.

EDIT:- To answer your question about the blinking, PPSSPP has issues with frameskipping when set to even numbers. Use odd numbers like 1,3,5 or 7 to experiment.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

1. ppsspp-v0.8.1-394-g19a6edd-windows-amd64
(works amazingly with my x360 controller)

2. Using a laptop, i3, 4gb ram, intel hd4000 (graphics card is lacking unfortunately)

3. Windows 7 64bit OS

Hope that helps, thanks

Hrmm.. thats quite odd, from your initial performance report I almost assumed you were running this using an android or Ios mobile device lol.

You shouldn't be getting such low numbers in LoH:TitS with an i3 and an Intel HD 4000 card. The game is not very demanding at all.

Try using the latest build on the build bot, with default settings and report back please.

Make sure any performance draining options like 2xSSAA and texture scaling are disabled.

Also ensure your laptop is plugged to the wall and running in high performance mode. The graphics card may not be clocking itself up on battery power to conserve energy.

RE: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
I started it up in 8.1 401.

Without making any changes, while in town fps sits at 45 and the music is choppy.

with frameskipping 3 and buffered off its 60fps but with the blinking.
with buffer on it glitches character positions

edit: **also the new 401 crashes when hitting esc to get to ppsspp main menu.**

luckily while in battle, there isnt any fps problems except for the minor hiccup everyso often.

Just seems to have problems in town. If thats the worst problem i have then this should be fine. I think its just my comp.

RE: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
It's the same problem on android. It's just about 40-50 fps in town. Also the background of menu is black in color. It's not transparent. I have tried all combination of setting... I'm using nexus 7 and ppsspp ver 0.8.1-401

You're right about this observation.

Noted and reported.

@ConsoleDrifter

If you want an alternative to the Esc button, you can bind of the unused buttons on your 360 controller to Pause, and use that instead.

That does not cause a crash, surprisingly enough.

To make it properly transparent, you need to edit 2 settings in your ppsspp.ini file. (I think you need a rooted Android device to do that)

Set FramebufferstoMem = True and FramebuffersCPUConvert = True

This will incurr a quite a massive performance hit though, so it may not be worth it for your already sub 60 speed Android device.

The crashing issue with Escape has now been fixed in v0.8.1-429-gbab3027. Thanks Henrik.

RE: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Wow, after turning on read framebuffer to memory, now the menu can be displayed normally with 57-60fps on nexus7. Before is around 40 fps. It's amazing! I'm using ver. 0.8.1-578
Great job!

More ARMJIT bugs in the latest builds.

Stick to v0.8.1-1029-g51596b6 until it is fixed for your Android device.
