So I'm running Ubuntu and My brother is running Windows8. We have everything set up to play dissidia 12 and the adhoc server says we're both connected. He's hosting, both using his ipv4 and different mac addresses. When we get into the multiplayer lobby though, even though we're both connected on the adhoc server, we can't see one another. Help?

I haven't tried ubuntu, but I know play adhoc android with windows also can't see one another.only windows with windows will work

With what do you have problems? For me it works normally in LAN without the DATA INSTALL( neither the small or the big one), both COOP and VERSUS OPS.
