RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
From the specs posted i'd say JXD S7800B is superior. It's SoC is comparable to a Galaxy S3.
HOWEVER i strongly recommend against any Chinese device, because of the terrible build quality and poor support.
SHIELD is more expensive, but is infinitely better in every aspect and have a strong support to this day.
Waiting for a -possible- Tegra K1 SHIELD 2 Portable might be a good choice, but it's guaranteed to be much more expensive than the current SHIELD.

RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
I went to the JXD site and I'm pretty amazed at what I saw. But as astroprogs said, these products are of a Chinese brand. So beware...

Well, to be fair, almost every product is MADE IN CHINA. Tongue

Anyway, aside from Nvidia Shield, would you guys recommend Razer Edge Pro to run games, specially PPSSPP? Big Grin

EDIT: I think S7800b is the latest product, so if you have to choose just between the two, pick that. Wink

RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
As Made in China, I can say that not all of the products are bad.
You should, however, steer clear away from JXD. Lack of support for their recent devices (S7800 and the S5800) plus them having closed source kernel, meaning that there are some problems with them that you simply cannot fix.
Plus, all later models S7800B have the capped rk3188-t SoC, so you're being screwed.
Go for some of the GPD devices if you're into that kind of thing, they're more community friendly and cost less.

I personally wait for the rumored nVidia Shield 2 with the Tegra K1 SoC or for a good 5'' phone with small controls (look up the design on the Much W1 - only without shitty firmware choices). Either of those things is going to revolutionize the market - because both unlock possibilities that were unachievable for Android before (classic gaming on the go and high-level gaming on a portable machine).

Regarding The Razer Edge Pro's performance, it's a mid-end PC, so it's guaranteed to play PPSSPP at native resolution (1366x768) or maybe higher at full speed.

Other emulators like Dolphin and Pcsx2 WILL struggle, 3.0GHz Dual core is not good enough for Pcsx2, 3.0GHz Dual Core IvyBridge is not good enough for Dolphin (Dolphin runs better on Haswell).
But don't get discouraged, less demanding games will run alright as Persona 3 FES/4 (PS2) and Sonic Unleashed (Wii) ran at full speed on a slower device so i think you'll be alright as long as you stay away from games like Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) and Metroid Other M (Wii).

PC Games from mid 2013 and before will run at Mid/High settings, native resolution, 30fps or so (depending on the game).
It's suffice to say it will NOT play The Wither 3 at a playable fps.

Now for the REAL cons:
Battery Life is 1-2 Hour tops in gaming sessions.
Price/Performance Ratio is abysmal. Don't get me wrong it's a very good device, but it's not 1000USD good (controller and stand are not included BTW).

You'd be better off with a gaming laptop TBH.

The thing about Much W1, 78point P01 and the majority of these new Chinese devices is that they are Mediatek based, which is generally not good for PPSSSPP's performance from what i understand.

RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
Thanks astroprogs!

I'm not really considering to buy that in the first place. I'm just curious if it plays well.

'Cause when I google "gaming tablet," that's the first result that pop-ups. Big Grin

Hey,man. I have known some message from JXD Customer service. They said I can use the small chick which is the simulator to solve many problem expect something wrong of Circuit board.
Though the S7800B was rk-3188, but with the passage of time, it can get better. SO , the only thing can we do ,is waiting the time.

RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
Happy Chick is a frontend for some of the more popular illegal ROMs and outdated emulator versions. You have absolutely nothing to check there - if you really wanted, you can get both of those things with ease on your own.

The problems in question is the battery drain when in idle, plus the imprecise battery indicator, the fact that the SoC takes ~10 minutes to understand it needs to ramp up the clock speed to keep up with applications, problematic Wi-Fi, limited support for BT dongles and any other feature introduced after Android 4.2 and iffy sound. Those are just the things off the top of my head.

Do not bother with the S7800B. Also do not bother with the S5800, as it is terrible for a phone, and both are pricey more than the newer competition. This is coming from an S7800B owner.

[quote='Made in China' pid='92487' dateline='1408680649']

If you set it by yourself, it is not good for people who are not familiar with the software settings, and each kind of simulator settings are not the same, and will be very troublesome and may cause an error.

They are in addition to a mobile phone, or a TV box, game machine, flat-panel computer. So the power is power, but the running speed is no problem.

As for the wireless network issues you should consider Is it right? Local network signal itself is not good.

As we all know, not a game machine or mobile phone to support any game or software. There is always some discomfort with the situation. The only thing they can do is to try to support most of the software. Am I right?

If you wanna jxd s78000 or s5800, then you should choose 7800.

My favorite thing is playing emulator games(GB games) on my jxd s7800b. Are you keen on retro games?

RE: which should I choose? JXD S7800B or S5800
I think this JXD thing is better than Nvidia Shield in my opinion.
I don't like the Xbox 360 game control idea on Nvidia shield , it makes it harder to carry and less portable.
JXD seems like a PSP with better processor and android.

The Signature!
