A monster hunter game that suits me...?
I played MHFU and I liked it in the beginning; but I dropped it after about 15 hours of gameplay because I just got too frustrated with the annoying hit boxs and too much bullshit, as well as too much grinding without having a better pay off (stronger equipment).

So, what I'm asking is, is there a monster hunter game that isn't as grind heavy as MHFU and the equipment powerlevel is greater? I found out that in MHFU the best weapon you can get is one with 1200 attack and 600 thunder damage? Which really put me off cause I was expecting the final one to have something like 5k attack, at least.

I'd also like it to have multiplayer so I can play with my buddy.

So, any recommendations? Doesn't have to be on the psp.

RE: A monster hunter game that suits me...?
IMO, MHFU is the best PSP MH game.
After grinding for a better armor or a better weapon, it pays off in the end. Big Grin

Not for me, not with the current power levels.

I don't want it to be "casual" I want there to be a better power difference between sword A and sword B.

So you're basically asking for a game that's not too easy and not too hard? Big Grin

No, I want it to be hard; but I want there to be a bigger difference between sword A and sword B, for example:
sword A = 1000 attack
Sword B = 1500 attack + 500 thunder attack

So instead of the best weapon having 1200 attack and 500 thunder attack it'd have something like 5k attack and 2k thunder.

Ok...
I needed 20 malechite ore for a weapon; I wonder if it would matter if I needed 20,000...

RE: A monster hunter game that suits me...?
That's not what I wanted to say.

The thing that I thought about was the following :
Imagine if the monster has 10000 HP and your weapon has 1000 ATK...
And imagine if the monster has 1000 HP and your weapon has 100 ATK...
It's finally the same Wink

Yeah but what does that have to do with this thread?

RE: A monster hunter game that suits me...?
Before this gets into an unnecessary argument.

deama, there are only 4 main MH games in PSP.

Monster Hunter [1]
Monster Hunter 2
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd

And there are 2 spin-offs. (Japanese Only)

MH Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village
MH Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village G

Try them all and pick for yourself.
That is, if you can get them all. Big Grin

Just want to add that it's pretty easy to understand why stats doesn't differ much - fashion! XD

I mean we're not exactly like Dark Souls players that would wear a monsters butt on their head just because game devs would troll them making a buttface helmet with high stats. I totally want my avatar to look neat, the rest nah:3.

I looked through the wikis on those games to find out what weapons they have (Great Sword mainly) and I haven't found anything that goes above 2k attack...

I guess the series just isn't for me...

RE: A monster hunter game that suits me...?
So the only thing (literally) that bothers you is the fact that numerical values of weapon attack damage appear "low" to you. You will not be appeased by the idea that the weapon is comparatively powerful compared to a weapon in the early game.

To give you an idea of how the power difference works, let me tell you:
Yukumo Switch Axe - 70 Attack
This weapon takes about 4 - 9 minutes (depending on players ability to manage attack windows/efficiency) to kill an Arzuros.

Black Harvest - 205 attack (32 Dragon dmg)
This weapon takes 1 minute and x amount of seconds to kill Arzuros without any planned efficiency or preparation.

So despite your denial of the "all that matters is numbers" argument, it is in-fact - just numbers that matter to you.

There is a game that does high numbers especially well, look for MU online.

P.S. MHFU has the highest numerical values of weapon damage in any of the Monster Hunter games.
