RE: Need for speed Carbon
Title: Need For Speed Carbon: Own the City
Genre: Arcade-Style Racing / Street Racing Region: USA (NTSC) Game ID: ULUS10114 [More detail] Format: ISO & CSO Version of PPSSPP: v0.8.1-564-g6d5d531 Emulation system: Windows XP SP3 32-bit Compatibility: Playable (Player can complete game) Review: Fully playable with huge fps problems and freezes sometimes. (check "Bugs and issues" section to avoid it) Video: Works good, but sometimes sound distort. Sound: Major sound distortion due FPS problems. Graphic: Good, but textures in certain places are not shown properly. [LINK1] [LINK2] [LINK3] [LINK4] FPS: Main problem of the game. Yes, sometimes emulator runs stable 60 FPS, but more often it has only 35-55 FPS. This happens in areas with many models, different textures, big location with enormous illumination e.t.c. Frame skipping can helps, but not always. Savestate: Seems good. No crashes detected. In-game save: Very good. DLC: No dlc for this game MISC: 1) No media engine bug. Just use proper settings and play around. 2) Game fully playble and you can complete it [PROOF1] [PROOF2] [PROOF3] [PROOF4] [PROOF5] Settings: I.Quick review: Code: Buffered Rendering - on (switch off If you have major FPS problems) II.Detail rewiew: Buffered Rendering - Very interesting option in this game. Changes graphic dramatically - add reflections, blur in a corners of the screen on high speed, and many other graphic stuff. Check this pic to compare "on" and "off". However - this option cause FPS problems and very huge decreasing of it. Use Buffered Rendering only if you have fast PC (or android device) Hardware Transform - Both with Vertex Cashe increasing FPS Read framebuffers to memory - Seems no effect game. But switch it on cause nothing terrible. Vertex Cashe - Both with Hardware Transform increasing FPS Use VBO - Decreasing FPS a little. Switch off. Frame skipping - Powerfull and superiour option for this game. Use it on cause incresing FPS. Simple 2X SSAA - Increasing quality of the graphic, but very greedy for CPU and RAM. Use if you want fantastic graphic and your PC (or other device) is very good. MipMapping - Seems no effect game. Better to disable it. Vsync - Huge decreasing FPS. Do not use it. Texture Filtering - Interesting option. Nearest - worst variant make sky and texture cubic and laughly. Linear makes graphic smoothing but has strange issue - make vertical line on some textures (check this pic and look closely at the "S" letter.). Linear (CG) disable this "line-bug", however some textures became more cubic again. Use Linear or Linear (cg) - which one you like more. Texture Scaling - Occur improvements of textures, but greedy for specs of PC. Better do not use it. Screenshots: Bugs and issues: 1) Sometimes at 60 FPS video's sound without any reason distort. (example - first video with EA logo) 2) Some textures distorts. [LINK1] [LINK2] [LINK3] [LINK4] 3) This is a way to freeze emulator and crash it. Do not take a race from ROAM-menu (free travel in city) - check your next race only throung crew house screen. If you do not do this - emulator can freeze at the start of the face. One more time - do not choose race from city, only from crew house (place where you buy cars, improvements e.t.c). Here is log of freeze 4) Sometimes at the start of the race screen flickering. 5) Do not use "Fast memory" - this provide unlimited loading screen before race. Here is log P.S. - Moders, please, add prefix "Own the City" to the title of the thread. This makes search more better. |

RE: Need For Speed Carbon : Own The City
Tested ppsspp version 0.9.8 on Windows 8 (64bit). Very playable (can complete game 100%) however frequent frame rate drops occur. Hopefully an update can fix this?
