I ask that because the filename which I use (working) is just "cheat.db".

As far as I know the filename "cwcheat.db" is not implemented.

So yes, anything except for cheat.db (not Cheat.DB, cHeat.dB (these first two would work on Windows only), cwcheat.db, etc.) will not work.

Ok, so the filename is correct. But your mention of those old versions brings up another issue, which has definitely changed since 0.8.1, this being the folder structure.

Some time towards the end of the 0.9.1 beta builds the folder structure used by PPSSPP was changed, in part to make the usage more consistent across different platforms.

The standard path of the "cheat.db" file is now "memstick\PSP\Cheats\cheat.db", where "memstick" represents either the PC folder "memstick" inside your PPSSPP program folder, or the SDCARD root of an Android system. (NB: Not the main Linux system root, but just the root folder of the SDCARD storage.)

There is also a new method of using alternate storage locations for the memstick stuff, but I won't go into that stuff here. (It won't happen by itself, so don't worry about it.)

Actually, it does happen (on Windows), if the user has PPSSPP in a directory which has no write access; your stuff will be saved in My Documents\PPSSPP.

The most likely scenario of that happening, that I can think of, is if the user puts PPSSPP in Program Files [x86].

What's the "_M" prefix supposed to mean ?

It seems to be used here in a way similar to the normal "_L" prefix, but if that cheat engine used a different prefix, then it quite likely used a different encoding for the cheat opcodes. Who knows ? The codes might even be encrypted, like it was customary to do with commercial cheat engines for the PS1 and PS2.

In any case it will be necessary to 'translate' such cheats before they can be used in PPSSPP or other normal cwcheat implementations, and I suspect that simply replacing "_M" with "_L" is just one of many changes needed.

Not possible with that code. The prefix on the address part, 0x00 means its a 8-byte address ( i think) which holds a maximum of 255, or FF
