RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Hey guys. First off, amazing work with this emulator. I no longer have the need to repurchase a PSP, and I can play PSP classics on my Galaxy Tab 2 7.
My dream PSP game to play again, has always been Force Unleashed. I tried running the game via the official Google Play release, and it did not work correctly. Fonts did not show up, and graphics were messed up. However.. the game does run amazingly well on the v0.8.1-1076-g7a00891 build. UNTIL.. you actually try to play a level. As you can see in the screenshots, the menu has zero issues. Even the pause menu works. It's the actual levels itself, where the graphics are completely messed up. You can basically pan around an empty world, with just the backdrop present. And.. it also has a red overlay. Hope a solution can be figured out soon. It would be amazing to have this kind of game running on an android tablet. As new builds come out, I'll keep testing them. RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Hey guys first post here, devs are doing a superb job with this emulator. Anyway I tried SWTFU on my Win7 laptop and it works great with the 0.8.1 -564 g6d5d531 version of the emulator. I beat a couple of levels so far without a problem.
All setting off except hardware transform, unlocked cpu and fast memory. Frame rate is around 55-60, only in a few scenes with a lots of explosion it drops a bit. Turning on frameskip gives it some flickering and of course it still has a red overlay over the screen which will surely disappear in future versions of the emulator. All things considered this should be moved to playable part of the forum. |

RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
I tried 0.8.1 -564 g6d5d531 on my Galaxy Tab 2. None of the fonts work (they work in later builds), and the game is too slow to play (also on all builds). It's like stop-motion animation. One of the settings does disable the red overlay though.
It's so annoying. I can see the game, and I can move Vader around on the first level, but the movement is way too slow to be playable. Devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 - Stock 4.1.1 PC: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz AMD Radeon HD 5450 |

RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Under Buffered Rendering, selecting Read Framebuffers to Memory disables the red overlay.
But it also makes it terribly slow on my tablet. Then again, it's really slow under every setting. Devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 - Stock 4.1.1 PC: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz AMD Radeon HD 5450 |

RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
You can fix this issue by switching the rendering to None then back to Buffered/Non Buffered until the red overlay disappears.

RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Funny enough I am not seeing any red overlay at all on the latest Git build for Windows?
Try the latest Git build v0.8.1-1116-g773115b - (Android). But because there is not a build for Windows 32bit, only back at...v0.8.1-1102-g3d7abf9 - I used this build for my test on Windows 7 -32bit. I used the following settings.......... There are a few glitches in the graphics in places, the overall speed is great & seems pretty smooth, only in loading screens & in parts of the video's that there are slight lags in speed. Edit: Sorry the version of game was: ULUS10345 |

RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Tried the v0.8.1-1116-g773115b build, and used the exact settings mentioned above. This is the result. The red overlay isn't a concern. Look at the speed. I don't get why it's running unplayably slow, if games like Ridge Racer 2 work *okay* on my tablet.

Just because one game works 'okay' means that another 'should'. E.g. Tekken 5 works really well on Android (full speed). Tekken 6 on the other hand runs like crap on the same platform, unless you enable frameskipping. Your mileage may vary. Hm. I was afraid of that. Maybe I should try using a different ROM, and change from stock. Maybe I should try Cyanogen or something.

I don't get why it's running unplayably slow, if games like Ridge Racer 2 work *okay* on my tablet. I try to explain. In the first place, those 2 games compared are from different developers/studios. So those are 2 different engines in the first place who operate different. For the 2nd part, RR is just a simple racing game. No tricky physics etc. It looks awesome, no doubt and it plays great, but thats it. In SW (3rd person Action), u have much more stuff going on, like physics with explosions etc, many effects (but that means not that much). The Dev-Team of ppsspp try to figure out (reverse engineer in their free time) how the gamedev's made it possible like it is. Then when they found out, they implement it and optimize it with the time. And thats a tricky process and why other things work and other things break because no one from sony gave them a manual on how to do it with ease^^ U can look over the history of other famous emulators out there, they dont emulate after 10 years 100 % correct, except a few examples like bsnes. And by all means, optimizing it for android/IOS/MAC etc (damn so many ports of this) is a greater challenge than for PC because of the hardware limitations/setup but they push it like a boss. Can't remember an emulator developing this fast. And the reason behind the red screen is a different EU/US Version, there are atleast 2 EU Versions out with different language setup. I dont know which one The Pheonix used. If EU, it must be the English/Italian/Spanish version, i have the german/french one and its contaminated with red screen on Win7/x64 / 0.8.1-1152-x64 / ULES00982 :] After a few seconds ingame the ambience music works also. I've done it before on a past tablet, with no big issues. I actually owned a knock-off Chinese tab, so switching ROMs was as common as changing your shoes, just to get the updated/improved functionality. I'm noticing though that with my new tab, I don't think I'll need to switch ROMs. Shadowgun, and other graphic-intensive games run with ease. So I guess I'll stick with stock. And thanks for the explanation Maverick. I'll be honest: I don't think ANY current Android tab will be able to ever play Force Unleashed decently. The Phoenix has a Windows 7 PC, with pretty decent specs. Hence why it runs well. I think PPSSPP will run AMAZING on the upcoming Mad Catz MOJO microconsole. It should be powered by a Tegra 4, and more optimized for gaming. Still, I'll keep trying to somehow get Force Unleashed running at least decently, on my dual-core Galaxy Tab 2. RE: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Hm. Believe it or not, inside levels run pretty damn well on my tab. I tried doing some force duels, and they actually averaged around 30% speed, which is playable. It's the outside levels, like the first Vader level, that I can't get past.
Does anyone happen to have a save for the level where you first become Starkiller? It's the one after Vader, so basically it would be the first save after you complete the first level. This is the level (my favorite), that I'm curious to see run on my tab. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vz5G2hjaBA Devices: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 - Stock 4.1.1 PC: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz AMD Radeon HD 5450 |
