I'm not sure what to say, then..the game has sound on my PC in the latest build. I'd double check that you have Sound, Atrac 3+ enabled, and that your PC's speakers/headphones aren't muted(or if you're in Vista/7/8 make sure PPSSPP isn't muted in the sound mixer), and that SFX/BGM volume are both set to 8. Or perhaps re-download the Atrac3+ plugin. It's something on your end, not the emulator's..

I got stucked on chapter 6, where Asahina tried to control the Monokuma by the Monokuma's control room. Shortly after some recall from Kirigiri's explaination, the game crashed (stopped working). Tried to load, back to the point, but it kept doing the same. Anybody experienced this too? Huh

Turn off HW transform for that scene.

That happens at times in the latest builds for some weird reason (I'm still trying to get to get to the bottom of it)

The quick and simple solution for the issue, for now, is just to press the UP button on your emulated PSP DPAD to scroll up past the "rubbish" data until you can find your actual saves.

Don't worry, they are still there, you just have to scroll up.

RE: Danganronpa Kibou no Gakuen ro Zetsubou no Koukousei (PSP The Best)
I am trying to play the 1st game with v0.8.1-1073-g53336e5 on Windows.

I had the problem where items could not be "investigated" which I was told could be fixed by turning on either Read Frame Buffers to Memory (CPU) or Read Frame Buffers to Memory (GPU) in the Settings under Graphics.

Using CPU allows for selecting items to be investigated, but the FPS drops to unplayable levels.

Using GPU maintains the FPS, but crashes at the scene where investigation becomes possible. Can anyone tell me what I should do to make the game work?

It seems that the investigation bug has been around since the game was first ripped, and that plenty of people have been able to play it on previous versions, so there must be a way for it to work with the latest version.

Your only choice in the matter is to enable Frameskipping together with Read Frame Buffers to Memory (CPU) if you're on an AMD or Intel graphics card on Windows.

Using the GPU option is only ever recommended if you have a dedicated NVIDIA card on your PC, since the other GPU vendors graphics cards don't function well enough in this game to use it.

You never did mention your PC specifications, so I've no idea why it could be so slow for you.

Using the laptop in my signature and enabling the Read Frame Buffers to Memory (CPU) option, the game is still very playable for me, with over 300% speed in most cases.

Unless you're using PPSSPP on an even weaker PC than mine (It's a 4-5 year old laptop), I seriously doubt you should have any crippling performance issues enabling the option.

As a final note, try out this guide and see whether it helps (ignoring the rendering mode of course, since this game NEEDS one of those two Framebuffers to Mem options to even function properly)

Enabling Frame Skipping at 3 leads to the screen getting stuck at the opening credits, though judging by the sounds and the response from keys the game itself has actually progressed to the start menu.

My specs are

Processor: Intel® Core™ i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz

Graphics Card: Intel® HD Graphics Family

RAM: 6.00GB

Windows 7 x64 Home Premium SP1

I don't actually know what these mean... I can't tell if they're inferior to yours.

Yep, so it'd seem that your CPU (a powerhouse for this emulator) should easily handle the emulator but your Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU might struggle with the option on.

Have you tried other levels of frameskipping? (1 or 2)

Also, if you haven't already looked at it, have a look at the performance guide I posted earlier on, that should help.

EDIT:- Having just tried out the game with frameskipping, I definitely say, that 2 is the best one for this game. Try 2.

Frame skipping at 2 allows the game to function with the investigation option, though the FPS is still quite low. I can't seem to find the performance guide you mentioned, could you leave a link?

It's here:-

http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=5236

Try every single step in the guide. Do not skip any of them. (except for the Read Framebuffers to Memory one of course, you need to set it to CPU to play Danganronpa.)

And f.y.i

Frameskipping set to 4 would also work okay and provides even faster speed. (Use speed, FPS means something else with PPSSPP and it's normal for it to be 30 FPS in this game)

How low is it? You can post a screenshot (press F12) with the Speed % if you want.

RE: Danganronpa Kibou no Gakuen ro Zetsubou no Koukousei (PSP The Best)
Thank you. I've followed the instructions on the performance guide, and played around with some of the options that are variable depending on games, and while there was a slight increase in performance, it still didn't reach playable levels. Is there any other ways to make the game play, or am I stuck unless I change my graphics card?

Yeah, if you've done everything I listed out the guide and you're still getting rubbish performance, I'm not sure what else you can do. You can't change your graphics card either since you're on a laptop.

I'm quite perplexed, because your laptop isn't weak at all, and it should be able to handle this game with ease. That i3-2xxxM is a very decent CPU.

Is your laptop plugged to the wall, and is it set to High Performance mode in the Power Options?

You can easily see whether or not you're running at peak capacity by getting these two monitoring software for your CPU and GPU:-

CPUz (to monitor your CPU speed):-

http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.65-en.zip

GPUz (to monitor your GPU usage and speed):-

http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/225...-z-v0-7-2/

Something is not right here.

Is this the only game that's showing poor performance for you?
