Don't forget to use frameskip no matter what your setting is. Could save you a lot on ZZ/CCA (Axis) stage; those are the two laggiest stage in the game.

Looks like turning frame skip on while buffered rendering is disabled makes the screen keeps blinking on the latest version.

RE: Gundam Vs Gundam Next Plus
Dang it, the latest version of PPSSPP on Windows (0.7.6-513) ends with a black screen after selecting your character in Arcade mode.

Audio worked just fine before that too XD. I tried a pre FFMPEG build (0.7.6-387) and the game works just fine, but obviously without any music and voice.

EDIT:- It seems like the other game modes work okay. Only arcade 1 player mode gets stuck in a black screen after selecting the character.

Free mode works just fine with music and character voices.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

There is voices and BGM in every modes even in non-FFMPEG build. The freeze you've experienced are completely random, but more rarely occurs now I think (but always occurs on loading), it was much more severe back in pre-0.7 days.

I'm not sure about this, but seems this game runs sorta laggier than before on v7.5 above, that's why I keep playing it using the old v0.7 instead.

What it REALLY needs is the proper ability to load game (doesn't work even if encrypted saving is disabled) and sound effects (JPCSP doesn't have it either, somehow.).

And I'm still patiently waiting for a proper PC port of Gundam Extreme Vs Full Boost...hopefully. That beast has made GvG looks like it runs in slo-mo, literally.

@Razorback

Ah yes you're totally right about the savegame issue. It's like the game doesn't recognise the saves it just made lol. Have to use savestates. And about the sounds too, I just realised I switched off the sound in the older build lol.

The performance is fine on my older Core 2 laptop (specs listed in sig). 60 VPS full screen 1080p, except for that space Axis base stage (ZZ/CCA (Axis) stage).. holy moly does the framerate drop to the 40-50s on that one. I tabbed out, opened up Task manager and noticed that my CPU was being maxed out at the time. No wonder.

Game is CPU capped for me. GPU is barely doing any work.

I cannot imagine how laggy it must be for the mobile devices to run this. I have seen the issues page on github however.

RE: Gundam Vs Gundam Next Plus
Just noticed that the new frameskip method (v0.7.5 and so, I think?) sorta breaks the game. Using frameskip (even auto setting) at ridiculously laggy maps (the afforementioned ZZ/Axis map) basically doesn't work anymore (either too slow or the screen totally 'stuck' when frameskip is set above 1), while it was pretty much acceptable before (around v0.7).

RE: Gundam Vs Gundam Next Plus
Finally it can properly load saved games and the frame skip is much better now (don't know it's because of my laptop or whatever else though).

Now what it needs is the proper sound emulation and everything'll be perfect!

update: Screen blinking bug still exist when buffered rendering is disabled

This. Although the lag is more or less more random now (on ZZ/Axis map, sometimes lags so badly while entering the stage, but then goes back smoothly few seconds later, and then lags again)

Still no sound effects even with atrac3+ sadly, perhaps this game needs different kind of emulation for the sound effects (AFAIK there's no sound in JPCSP too)?
