I'm having issues with the game either crashing or a black screen after/during the last fight in the sewers.

I've read most of this thread and played around with the settings and can't seem to get it to work! I've downloaded the latest version to my Galaxy S4 and was hoping someone could tell me the ideal settings or version of ppsspp to use?

Thanks for the reply Squall, I just grabbed v0.9.5-553-g89c1364 and still getting a black screen after the battle. Any ideas?

By sewers,do you mean the beginning of the game?
I just tried the game and clear the sewers without any problems(v0.9.5-553 x86)but I'm playing using the pc version

Yep the very start of the game, first few battles were fine though so that's strange.

I'm having some trouble uploading the file from my phone, I'll try again when I get home.

I can't seem to attach my save state, I'm getting timeout errors every time even when I zip the file.

I mean savedata, not savestate.
It is in memstick/PSP/SAVEDATA.

I checked the folder and doesn't appear to be any for this game, I'm guessing it's because I haven't saved in game yet. Don't think I even can this early into the game.

You can save anytime and anywhere(except battle and cut scenes of course).
Just enter the menu Files=>Save
It will create a folder with name that start with ULUS10540(if you have the USA version)

I tested on Windows and I have no problem.
The problem may be corrupted ISO.
