RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
Hey guys,
on 0.9.9.1 the game runs pretty much flawlessly, but whenever I enter a menu, for instance a shop, the game starts running quite choppy/laggy and the sound becomes distorted. Does anybody know a fix for this? |

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I have an issue to report regarding Star Ocean: First Departure when played in v0.9.9.1-1078. The bookcase, etc. in the first house you're in do not not function as expected (the character goes through them instead of stopping when running into them).

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
This does not occur for me. Make sure you don't have any speedhacks on, you have simulate block transfer on, and slow framebuffer effects are not disabled.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I have another issue here, using v0.9.9.1-1089-gf7baec3 on pc, somehow it's always black screen after dialogue boxes appear.
strange thing is, if I open the setting and return to the game, the whole graphic appeared again, but it'd ended up black screen again after another box. other than that, the sprite isn't overlapping, and the border works well (I can't walk thru the roof etc.) |

Apparently, this "black screen after dialogue" issue is occuring when OpenGL rendering backend is selected. Using Direct3D9 backend will solve this issue. However, with Direct3D9 backend, the camera on the world map and battle screen is somehow more far than usual(OpenGL). It makes the character looks smaller and messed up the target cursor. Tested on 0.9.9.1-1166-ga767c8e. |

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
Direct3D has issues with viewports still. What GPU do you have? I've never seen this black screen thing, I know it was reported before, but I somehow thought it ended up being a setting/hack that was enabled.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
It's not like the game freeze when black screen occurs. When I pressed 'Esc' then continue the game, the problem is temporarily gone, until I speak to npc again. Tried with buffered rendering, no speedhack settings enabled.
My laptop's GPU is Mobile Intel 4 Series, though. Is it possibly because my GPU sux? |

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
It may be that it's a problem that occurs only on Intel cards or certain ones. They tend to have less than wonderful OpenGL support. Best bet may be when we get the viewport stuff fixed in Direct3D, since they support that better.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I see.. Yeah, this game still pretty much playable even with D3D9 viewport issues. Thanks, I really appreciate your answer.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
The viewport issues should be better soon. A fix is waiting to be merged. I have not had time to test it heavily, but it seems to work well.
Still not sure what's causing the black.. -[Unknown] |

The camera adjusment works great now, even in other games! Black issues only happen on OpenGL so it won't bother me as long as I'm using Direct3D backend. Thank you very much for this Direct3D fix |
