Are you talking about not being able to see what cards your partner has in their hand? That's normal game behavior in TF6. Or are you talking about cards being a black rectangle during movies? That's a result of setting your Rendering Mode as Non-Buffered Rendering. The grey circle from Syncro Summoning is also caused by using that setting. It makes the game significantly faster though, so if you change it to make cards appear properly, you might notice worse performance.

What version are you using? I'm not having any problems at all with the heart gauge, except for crashing when winning the 4th heart duel. The gauge is quite slow to fill, and it might seem like it's not working at all, but keep gifting items that the character likes to speed up the process.
