See the problem here? You're using 0.9.1 official, which doesn't have the fixes. Also, the fixes were removed in builds past 500 or so due to messing up a ton of other games, so stick with 491 for now if you want to play FF4.

Yup, the second part is correct. The fixed were removed in 500, but 499 is ok =))

I'm nitpicking but AMD/ATI users can use up to v0.9.1-532-g18c2342(self compiling) or v0.9.1-502-gffae887 on the build bot, since the buildbot seems to broken for Windows builds again after that one; the commit that reverted the previous fix by @raven02 which fixed this game was introduced in v0.9.1-533-gb054f1d.

Yeah, and like daxstu mentioned earlier on, there's a reason why I specifically state those numbers AFTER the 0.9.1 revision, they refer to the 0.9.1 dev builds that came after the official ones.

To complete what solarmystic had to say, I'm afraid I have bad news, the commit revert occurred at v0.9.1-533-gb054f1d seams to have broken text rendering of this game for pretty much all graphics cards. I have an Intel HD Graphics 2500 which has not been affected before in non-buffered rendering mode and I heard that NVidia cards are affected now too.
I think upgrading now beyond v0.9.1-532-g18c2342 is prohibited to play this game.

hey guys i just acquired a nexus 7 tablet(not the new version that came out on july) a few days ago and i decided to enter in the world of psp emulation, so my question goes about, which Version of the ppsspp emulator would suit the best to play this game properly in the tablet i just mentioned Smile

? thanks for the help guys! ( ive been reading the previous pages but it doesnt really state which is the most stable playable +with music i must add cause i has no music in the version i downloaded) and that i actually see text and what not.

I didn't. Like I said minor graphic issues. They really not that major. I am able to play to end game no issue.

It's misleading to say what you are saying. It only works like you are describing if you have an nvidia graphics card (which not everyone does), and you have buffered rendering turned off, and even with that, the graphical bugs are not a minor thing. It's only something that does not impede the game itself- except for the players without nvidia who can't even see the menus.

This is confirmed. Nvidias text is now messed up too. :/

I was able to fix the issue by installing PPSSPP in a folder outside of Program Files. I saw it in another thread, but just wanted to make sure that others know about it Smile

Good luck with getting it fixed! Looks great on my system, a few minor graphical issues but Im sure they'll get ironed out.

squallypo, I can see you are confused and since we are playing the same game I offered myself to help you. Text not visible in dialogues and battle menu issue in FF4 CC has a long history and now I'll tell you what to do.
Since you are using a Nexus 7, I am assuming it's running ARM-based Android.
The latest version of PPSSPP that doesn't exhibit text issue is v0.9.1-532-g18c2342, so go ahead and pick this Android build from here. Newer revisions are completely broken with this game, meaning the text invisibility affects probably any graphics cards not just AMD cards and some mobile devices cards like in the past. This happened because the developers initial fix to this text issue caused other problems and had to be undone and some other changes made meanwhile affected the result worsening the situation.

Regarding the missing music I think you didn't download the Atrac3+ plugin. Go to Game Settings - Audio - Download Atrac3+ plugin.
Unfortunately the developers moved the download button there, where might not be obvious for anyone to look.

That doesn't tell us much. Are you using 0.9.1 official, downloaded from here? Or a newer development version from here? In any case, you need a development build(0.9.1-703 or later, as suggested) if you want the hack settings.

I have the official downloaded version. I will take the development version you mention and try that - thanks for your patience Smile

working with the dev copy and the settings listed in the thread worked great! Thanks for asking me which version I had (I am newer here so didn't even know about the dev copies of it).
