PSA (why does this game not work)
Posted by: TkSilver - 12-24-2020, 02:31 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - No Replies

I am going to ignore the legal and ethical issues with pirating games and just clearly state why doing it is just going to cause you to come on here and ask why X game is not working for you.

The PSP has a long history and had/has a very active homebrew community. As a result Sony made many many different versions of it's firmware to add security (and occasionally features). There were multiple points in the lifetime of the PSP where new games were released that would not run on Firmware versions that also would allow you to have custom content on your PSP (like emulators, homebrew games, ect). To be able to keep your custom firmware and still play newer games you would often have to patch them to work on your specific custom firmware version. Those patches will mess with PPSSPP, to be fair they would often mess with other CFWs and even the same CFW if it was updated.

TLDR: A lot of games you find that you did not make your own ISO of are patched and do not work well with PPSSPP. Use the instructions https://www.ppsspp.org/faq.html to make a clean ISO and it should work much better.

Also before you ask, spam my message box.... no you can not generally remove a firmware patch (whether it is a gen one or M33 or insert other CFW patch). Even if it was possible I would not help anyways it is just faster and easier to make a clean ISO from your own game.

  HELP!!!
Posted by: quickprofile - 12-20-2020, 08:52 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (1)

Okay, I made this quick profile just to post a problem because I don't plan on staying long.

So I recently downloaded the PPSSPP emulator. Works great, no issues. Then I decided to download NFS: ProStreet out of this website, [REDACTED], because I can't do that fancy tech thing I forgot how to do.

So, first it was asking me if I wanted to enable the Autosave Feature. I said "Yes."
file:///C:/Users/bazdi/OneDrive/Documents/PPSSPP/PSP/SCREENSHOT/ULUS10331_00000.jpg

Then it asked me if I... wanted to continue without the Autosave? Strange. I just said "Yes". I answered this question with a "No".
file:///C:/Users/bazdi/OneDrive/Documents/PPSSPP/PSP/SCREENSHOT/ULUS10331_00001.jpg

Then when I pressed that "No", it just went back to where It asked me if I wanted to enable Autosave!

Maybe I downloaded the game wrong or maybe I didn't check if I somehow messed it up, but I'm in some deep problems over here. I've even looked if anyone else had this problem, but no! They can play 100% fine! This error also happened when I tried to play Tiger Woods PGA Tour. Can someone please help me?!?

(plus, this is my first time using an emulator.)

Sad Cars games on PPSSPP feel cursed.

Despite all of them having their rating set a "Perfect" on https://report.ppsspp.org, as far as I can tell, they all have extreme bugs.

Race-O-Rama specifically has me in pain because it doesn't deserve any higher than an "In-Game" rating, just take a look at the submitted screenshots.

This hurts me because it's a great game, but I have to settle for NO$GBA, DeSmuME, or melonDS to play it instead of PPSSPP which I like better.

The only way for it to be """"playable"""" right now is to use software renderer with 8 frameskip.

Posted by: Narfmonster - 12-08-2020, 07:14 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (2)

There are specific games for the PS2 (such as Smackdown vs Raw 2006/2008) that give unlockables if you connect your PSP system to your PS2. is this feature supported by the emulator?

Dualshock 3 Analog Not Working on Android
Posted by: Tehrm - 12-03-2020, 02:43 AM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - No Replies

Hey all,

I'm trying to get my Dualshock 3 controller working on Android. I'm using Sixaxis Enabler (I haven't rooted my device yet), which is reporting a good range of motion with the analog stick on what it labels the X- and Y- axes. Button-mapping in PPSSPP isn't picking up on this motion though, even though it detects my controller as a Dualshock 3.

Any insight into what might be causing the analog to not be picked up? Any advice would be helpful.

Device: Samsung Galaxy A8 (SM-A530W)
PPSSPP v1.10.3

  Joysticks/DPad stopped working on Android
Posted by: AthleticSeafood - 12-02-2020, 02:28 PM - Forum: General Discussion and Announcements - Replies (1)

So I've suddenly run into an issue with the Android version of PPSSPP where it will not recognize analog sticks or the dpad on my XBox One controller. It recognizes every other button on the controller. I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the controller, but that didn't work. The inputs register with other apps on my device, so I think this may be a problem with the emulator itself. The controller was working fine yesterday, and I haven't changed any settings in months, so I'm not sure what the issue is.
