Tactics Ogre memory problem
I came across this emulator the other day and it really is amazing, games look better on my pc than they do on the psp itself. My thanks to everyone who has worked on it.

I've been having an issue with Tactics Ogre where the emulator seems to grow in memory size every time I play a battle. It initially runs at around 100 k memory in task manager when I open it but gradually grows over time as I play it. I've seen it go up to 2,500,000 k and it never goes back down unless I close it completely.

Any idea what could be causing this? Has anyone else had this problem?

RE: Tactics Ogre memory problem
Sounds like a memory leak.

First things first, can you post your system information in your next reply please?

(Run PPSSPP --> Settings --> System --> Developer Tools --> System Information)

I suspect you're running an ATI/AMD card and the issue is related to Catalyst A.I., but I need some verification.

Thanks for your time.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

RE: Tactics Ogre memory problem
Yep, that confirms it.

From your specs, it seems that you're running either an ATI Radeon HD 4650 or 4670 card, and the memory leak is almost guaranteed to be caused by the Catalyst A.I. setting.

Try finding the Catalyst A.I. option and turning it to Low or Off in the AMD/ATI Catalyst Control Center(CCC). PPSSPP hates this option and it causes issues in various games when it's enabled.

If you're using a newer version of the CCC, the option is called Surface Format Optimization.

Also, while you're at it, have a look at my AMD/ATI guide for the emulator here, it should help out:-

I haven't updated it in a while, but most of the information contained therein is still relevant to the newest versions of PPSSPP.

You are 100% right, I turned off catalyst a.i. and now it works perfectly! Thank you very much for your help! It helped me a great deal. I am jealous of your technical expertise, I never would have figured this out on my own. Cheers mate.
