Poll: How should the volume controls work?
It's fine as-is, my device has global volume anyway
Keep the BGM and SFX settings, add a global one too
Remove the existing settings and add a global one that always works
Remove the settings that don't always work, my device has volume controls anyway
This feature doesn't really matter to me

Volume control setting

Volume control setting
The current volume controls control some background music, and some sound effects. However, there are effects and music not covered by either setting, and there are even cases where background music could be affected by both settings (e.g. 50% * 50% = 25%.)

What would be the most useful?

RE: Volume control setting
If something doesn't work properly, I think it's better to remove it, nope ?
Or maybe fix the problem if it worth it ?

RE: Volume control setting
Sometimes I play games with no music(play some song in some player)and leave only the sound effects because I need them.
If there are no ingame settings,I disable the music and hope that the sound effects are still working.

Since per app volume is vista and above only thing,it would be nice if we have such settings

BGM Volume
SFX Volume
Global volume - if the two above can't control\disable the volume completely

RE: Volume control setting
The problem with these settings is that they are technically labeled wrong.

BGM = Atrac, MP3
SFX = SAS (VAG, PCM, etc.)

Generally speaking, this is often right. However, in several games it's wrong:

* It's possible to output audio directly (to the audio backend), and we have no idea if it's BGM of SFX or what.
* Sound effects (and especially voices) are sometimes Atrac, but we count these as BGM.
* Music is sometimes fed through SAS (e.g. when it is VAG or PCM.)

If we keep them, I would change their names to be more correct, but they will probably make less sense to the average user...

RE: Volume control setting
* how about ..
* change their names to correct one. then add ( )
* that states its use. or give example.

* in my opinion, as a user/gamer
* this option is important.
* there are games, that i want the BGM sound lower.
* and there are games with cutscenes with low voices, so i want them High.
* u know, situations like that. Big Grin

RE: Volume control setting
Currently doesn't matter to me, as not many games are playable for me anyway..
Maybe in time I will use such a feature..(when/if my cheap ass device is ever up to the task)

RE: Volume control setting
Everyone voted that they didn't care, or didn't want them. BGM sometimes did not affect BGM, and sometimes affected SFX. SFX sometimes did not affect SFX, and sometimes affected BGM. So they were misleading at best.

I don't always look at the audio settings, but when I do, it's by accident.

RE: Volume control setting
Heh, nice. Well, maybe we can have some more like equalizer type settings or something that are global. Someone made a good case for a global volume control as well.
