Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
Sorry if this may be a duplicate of another thread with the same topic. Tho its a rather small issue but it would be greatful if the devs look over this problem. Big Grin

so it happens when i minimized the emulator. when i click on the emulator to restore from being minimized, the emulator freeze and then it crash. I admit it is rather annoying especially during gameplay if i mis-press a window key or other key or even i accidentally minimized the emulator.

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
Does that same thing happen if your click on the button in the task bar to minimize all or press the Win key along with D

Using PPSSPP on Windows 7 x64 SP1
i7 4771 3.5Ghz,GTX750TI,16GB RAM

Batch iso <=> cso converter

yeah as long as you minimized the emulator, it will happen once you restored it back from being minimized.

oh and it happen during gameplay.
If you minimized when the game is not running, it doesn't crash

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
Do you have any program that automatically reduces the memory usage?
Does it happens regardless of the window mode(not maximized or not in full screen)
Are any other programs running(video players or web browsers)when you minimize it

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
If it happens when you are using older ppsspp versions(9.6,5,2,1 or 8.1 or 8)then it's probably video drivers related.

Does it also happens if you disable the sound(disable it before starting a game)

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
Is anyone else able to reproduce this with an Intel GPU? My NVidia doesn't exhibit this, so it makes it hard to test..

4GHz AMD 3900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 6GB Nvidia RTX 2060, Asus Crosshair 7 Hero (Wifi), Linux

I can't reproduce this in Intel GPU HD4000

OPENGL 3.1.0 - BUILD 10.18.10.3345
GLSL 1.40 - Build 10.18.10.3345

Maybe only effect on Old Intel GPU .

i think you're right.... I asked a friend to reproduce the problem but it seems he cant. He used Intel HD Graphics, so i think this problem can only be happen to anyone who use Intel GMA series.

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
And I assume you've already got the latest video driver available for your card?

Does it always happen, even when not in a game? For example, if you just start the emulator, minimize it, and then restore it, does it crash? Or does it only crash while a game is running?

Also, if you go to Debug -> GE Debugger (while a game is running):
1. If you click "Step Frame", does it even work / show the frame in the GE Debugger window?
2. If you minimize *just the GE Debugger window*, and then restore it, does it crash?
3. If you press "Step Frame" again after minimizing, does it crash then?
4. If you hit Resume, leave the GE Debugger window, and minimize *only* the game, then restore, does it crash then?

Do other emulators (using their opengl plugins, etc.) or games that use OpenGL crash in the same way, or do they generally not crash when restored?

well when i first open it it doesnt show anything

GE Debugger window cant be minimized, you have to minimized with the emulator as well

if i click step frame, then minimized, then restore then click resume, it crashed.

i didnt owned any other emulator or games that support OpenGL yet so this question is not applicable to me.

Note that im using v0.9.6-172

(i will try to get the latest one but it seem my internet is too slow to do the downloading)

RE: Emulator crash when restored from being minimized.
Oh right, you can't minimize it. Darn.

But that's really interesting that it's during a game only. New question: if while running a game you press Esc (pauses the game and shows a menu), minimize, restore, and then resume the game - does it crash?

It's not likely to change in the latest one until we make a change for it.

yeah it does but before that happens, after u restore it it shows black screen first. if you press the ESC key or click on the emulator it'll crash

Is this crash still happening in the latest git builds?

apparently, yes. Though, disable the use of Windows key while using the emu solves the problem a bit. Its not a big issue tho
