Are the saves no longer PSP-compatible?

Are the saves no longer PSP-compatible?
I used PPSSPP on Windows a month or so ago and I can freely move my save data to and from a real PSP and it would load fine. Since I haven't used PPSSPP in a quite a while, I downloaded the latest build (0.9.6.something). Thinking it was still compatible, I played Persona for 4 hours or so. After that, I moved my save data over to the PSP to continue my progress there. When I tried to load it, it says it is corrupted. Since I haven't been in the loop as of lately, can anyone confirm if PPSSPP is no longer compatible with a real PSP's save format?

Witch version of PPSSPP you were using? Are you talking about saves or savestates??

I was an Xperia Play gamer until my dog ate my beloved phone!

Now I’m an Xperia ZL/ZQ gamer!
Quad-Core 1.5 GHZ
2GB RAM

It works better, but i miss the gamepad!! T_T'

I forgot which version I was using since I just downloaded the new one and deleted the old one. I'm talking about in-game saves, not save states.

RE: Are the saves no longer PSP-compatible?
I have just tried to make a save with the latest build in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and I got no problem to load my save with my PSP Smile

So, the problem you describe is related to your game (maybe others too ?) but not PPSSPP in general...

Did you make the save originally in PPSSPP? (In other words, you didn't have any save for MHFU in your PSP/) Or did you import your PSP save into PPSSPP first then saved over it and copied it back?

RE: Are the saves no longer PSP-compatible?
I tried with my main save that I created with my PSP years ago Smile

So, I will try with a freshly created save from PPSSPP and then put it in my PSP and I will post the results here Smile
But I don't think this will make any differences... We will see ! Wink

As I thought, it doesn't change anything, my save created with the latest build load with no problem on my PSP...

So, the problem is game-related Undecided

Aww, okay, bummer then. Sad I had already invested on my progress. Oh well, I'll make up for it on the weekends.

RE: Are the saves no longer PSP-compatible?
it may be related to save encryption.
i don't know the default settings for ppsspp, but it can cause problems when swapping saves between ppsspp and a real psp.

i used to have problems with ppsspp incorrectly loading encrypted psp saves for certain games, it may be possible in your case that ppsspp writes unencrypted saves and that the psp game can't handle this(if you have a cfw, some may allow for saving/loading unencrypted saves using a plugin)

some games also have protected saves(djmax series for example) which will see any save from a different device as corrupt/blank.

Unless he changed EncryptSave = True to False in the ini, this shouldn't be possible, as PPSSPP encrypts saves by default.

I didn't change any setting like that so if that's ttue by default then it's still set to true.

I tried moving my PSP save for Persona from PSP to PPSSPP and PPSSPP can't load it as well. So it seems both real and emulator are saving Persona differently because I can't use theit saves on each other.

Are you able to move your saves between JPCSP and your PSP?

I haven't used JPCSP yet but I'll give it a go and post back results. (Currently on phone.)
