First off grats on the new release, anyway every time I run this emulator my firewall pops up asking for internet connection permissions, how can I get PPSSPP to stop trying to phone home each time it start? I've skimmed all the settings and nothing is checked that would require the internet so there must be something hidden, anyone know what that is.

WLAN stuff is all disabled yes, and disable firewall is not an option.

The only phoning home it does is to check for new versions, to alert that it's time to upgrade. It should be fine to just deny and forget about it.

I will add an option to disable it in future versions. Sorry for the trouble.

I see, thanks. It gets kind of annoying when it asks, and I like to keep my rule list simple and clean as much as possible, but I guess I'll have to make a rule for PPSSPP in this case.

Hm, I thought I set it to only check on every 5 startups... holy crap every second?? Not supposed to do that.

Did you enable error reporting?

Anyway, I have added a setting to disable reports and I'm looking into what could cause repetitive downloads as I haven't seen that.

Special, what firewall is that? I want to see if I can reproduce the problem myself.

I just put a breakpoint in our downloader code right now and it only happens once and not on every startup, as intended.

It's Comodo Firewall, and I just tried with a more recent build "v0.9.6-9-g9edf00e" and the same thing happens, but the good news is there is that new option "CheckForNewVersion =" and when set to false it seems to not spaz out.

Edit: It's also worth noting that the version check only happens every 5th launch you do, so closing and opening PPSSPP 5 times and on the 5th it will ask for permission, then just keep trying every second if you block it.

I totally don't understand why it would try every 1 second, it sure doesn't for me...

I will try the firewall and see if I get the same behaviour.

Aha! We do indeed have a retry thing that tries 100 times before giving up if it fails to connect, doh.

I will reduce that drastically. That's probably some old test code that was forgotten..

Fix commited. I have found that one retry can really help on mobile so I'm keeping that, but it's not going nuts anymore. Also it now only checks versions every 10 startups.
