Huh Could someone tell me which cpu performance is better?
Neon (128-bit wide) get faster in emulator or not?

Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpion_(CPU)

Let's discuss..Wink

RE: What's the different between Scorpion and pure A9 CPU?
Cortex A9 is faster than scorpion principally because it's an out of order architecture (not partial), has more L2 cache and more bandwidth (in most soc implementations).

I have both cpus and I found that 1ghz cortex A9 performs like a 1.5ghz scorpion (measured with fps meter in 3 games).

In floating point calcolations scorpion may have a slightly advantage but I don't think ppsspp uses (yet?) NEON.
I don't know either if floating point operations are important for emulators in general.
Maybe Henrik can tell us more. Big Grin

RE: What's the different between Scorpion and pure A9 CPU?
Scorpion is like a evolution of Cortex A8 Structure by Qualcomm, perform a little better than C-A8 But worse tha C-A9
Krait is the same but based on Cortex A9, I think it perform better tha C-A9
Krait 300 & Krait 400 based on C A15

Cortex A15 give the best performance. (Krait 300 & 400 not released jet)

This is my opinion I'm not too sure

A lot of games use floating point and so, NEON could have a good benefit. However, right now PPSSPP doesn't really use it at all.
