RE: power vr
Henrik released an update or two today, in an attempt to fix PowerVR GPUs. Any updates or luck, guys?

Also pes 2013 touchlines are visableSmile

Thanks henrik.

that's good news indeed, let's hope it will be fixed completely until 0.9 Smile

RE: power vr
yes maybe.. but at least he's started on it and already have some good resultsSmile we may get some more speed too..

I have an A9 processor, and the difference from my old A8 is very fast.. I have full speed in a few games, with frameskipp of course, the two games I mentioned above are playable.
Ppsspp has come a long way I'm happy with its progress. gotta respect henrik foor even attempting this.

Gran turismo graphics are now fixed on powervr.

RE: power vr
cpu is one thing, but gpu also has to be rather powerful, try to play with hardware transform disabled (that is cpu will do all the work) and it cuts the speed by half if not by more

then a custom firmware and kernel with accent on speed have a good impact on speed (unlike stock roms), and ICS or newer is preferable

reducing cpu clock to a certain amount (depends on game) makes also a big difference

these three things are the most important, apart from frameskipping which makes the image jerky (though it can help sometimes), overclocking that gives some speed but drains battery and cpu faster, or buying a new phone if nothing else helps, but of course there still has to be more optimization = more speed untill v1.0 or even after it, patience is crucial here Wink

P.S.: I tried 3 games with "powervr issues":nfs most wanted, MK Unchained and assassin's creed and they work fine, so maybe it has already been fully fixed, if others would test more previously problematic games, to see if there are still issues.

RE: power vr
fck its hot here in ukSmile anyways yep hardware transform kills speed.. but some games are more cpu intensive than others.. mk is one of them as I already have a descent speed, others like gran turismo look nice but slow as hell.. so maybe maybe more gpu optimisations, although gpu needs to be half decsent.

Mine isn't lol

frameskipp ok sometimes.. but thr game needs to be pretty quick anyway to avoid being jerky ie frameskipp 1 looks awesome if the game already runs 80?90% of full speedSmile

underclocking cpu doed help, ie soul calibur 44mhz br off is full speed but due to flickering its unplayble.

RE: power vr
if MK is so cpu demanding then why my crappy A8 1ghz cpu (no overclock) can play it full speed with frameskip - 2 (at 1 it stutters), although actually I'm getting max 50fps/60speed, perhaps 50fps is locked in the game, how much fps do you get?

locking cpu speed to 40 gives 30fps/60speed (no frameskip), so this helps slow paced games that use max 20-30fps, but not fightings that are fast paced and need 50-60fps.Wink

The fact that you have even switch on frameskip to get full speed means it's quite demanding lol.

Try playing it without frameskip and see what happens.

I know it, I meant something else. Alright then, Stodag could you tell me how much speed(vps)@50fps do you get in MK without frameskip, with no ppsspp cpu lock and no phone overclock? If MK is so cpu intensive then you should get more speed@50fps than me (A9>A8).

With the above conditions I get about ~32 speed (depends on stage), though previously until atrac plugin was implemented, I got ~37speed

Sorry about being curious Smile

I don't trust chinese brands too much, the parts they put in it are cheap.
I'm sorry that your phone broke, but your galaxy s 9003 is not much slower than prestigio, having the fact that the emu uses mainly one core.
In MK I actually get 30-40 speed (one stage 32-33, other 37-38 and so on), so it's pretty much similar to your results. How much speed do you get on your galaxy s ? It should be the same with mine phone with the right optimization, that is Android 4.0.4 or higher (CM9 for example and a fast kernel).

I used a .cso image of MK, maybe if I try uncompressed .iso image the speed will increase.

same as m8 about 28/31 but im on stock 2.3.6.. i need a pc to root etc using superoneclick. Its the galaxy scl i9003 pretty fast gpu is average though.. power vr sgx 530 armv8. I have overclocked in past to 1.3 ghz stableSmile

It may well be enouph in future for ppsspp, of course i realise not every game will run full speed but hey.. i only want a few to playSmile

RE: power vr
Well, I had lower speed on stock 2.3.5 and it even wasn't stable, it resulted in hardware transform error and returned to software mode which is much slower (in Assassin's Creed), maybe it's because gingerbread bad gpu drivers, or the emu is more optimized for ICS and up, unfortunately Samsung won't release ICS, so I'm stuck on CM9 or other custom rom.

By the way, the safe overclock for galaxy s phones is up to 1200 mhz, but I got only 3 vps per 200mhz overclocked in MK. Gpu can also be overclocked, but that's another matter, I'm not sure if it's safe like cpu overclock, need to find more info, but I know that it can be overclocked up to 384 mhz in powervr 540 (default is 200 mhz).
