(03-27-2014 07:08 PM)LunaMoo Wrote:  @Kazalus - Just as you can see by where this thread is - oficially it's not playable, however unoficially with some workarounds and patience, we can play through whole game from quite some time and probably at least a few of us here already did so. @_@

If you want to try the unofficial way, there are 2 cases depending on game version:
- v1.00 - it should run on official ppsspp versions,
- updated game with dlc's(current latest and also best 1.30) - requires modified build to work ~ you can build your own or use for example my build which I posted in some earlier posts in this thread for android. Also for updated game to even boot correctly, dlc's/update files have to be decrypted on psp, you can do it by yourself or just google for decrypted update.

In both cases we can only play 1 mission, then save, restart, and continue with another mission otherwise the game will crash, also there are extra crashes at times while using savestates during mission, nothing too terrible since it happens max 1 time per mission and from my experience doesn't happen at all when not using savestates there.

Another issue would be slightly missplaced and way too detailed bloom effects at higher res which is somewhat ugly for anyone knowing how it should look. This is just cosmetic glitch caused by upscalling which affects many games with bloom effects and depends alot on the settings used and personal vision of eyecandy, can be even removed totally with non-buffered rendering.
I've been using both the official PPSSPP version 0.9.8 and the modified build for GE2 and both can't get past the black screen with the PlayStation network stuff in white. I know that this means that the game can't find the update and I have downloaded both the updated iso and update files. I downloaded both the v1.30 iso and v1.30 decrypted update as well as the v1.40 iso and v1.40 decrypted update.

Is the reason why it can't find the decrypted update because of the directories?
Oh and I'm using PPSSPP on Android.

RE: God Eater 2
@CPkmn would be cool, but I just build myself v0.9.8-695-g8c11559 with the same 2 hacks and it was still not crashing for me, weird, just the framerate glitch.

Also the 1.30 which normally crashed if I wasn't restarting, seems to have same framerate glitch with the build that uses 2 hacks as well, so maybe it's more about your second hack than ppsspp updates. Possibly the chinese build has different hacks, cannot really find it:|. It could also work on my system differently by luck, some hardware difference or anything heh.

------------------------------------------

@EtherealAni no clue about android, don't really use it to play games, but while I was testing it some time ago it had no problems detecting update at least on my rooted xperia. The folder with the decrypted update files should go to "memstick\PSP\Game" just like on windows, however on andoid "memstick" is basically your memory card.

Also 1.40 will quite likely just crash on android, since it has different problems and requires different hacks.
I would highly recommend staying with v1.30 to anyone who didn't finished every single mission on it yet or who likes to take npc's on missions, because taking any npc with you crashes the game with no known solution yet on v1.40.;| It sucks even more since big part of this new update actually encourages to take npc's to missions.

RE: God Eater 2
@LunaMoo I tried the v1.30 too, but didn't get past the updating thing either. I put my decrypted update folder in my sd card "sdcard1/PSP/GAME/," but where do I put the iso file? Since it can't find the update even though I've moved the update everywhere does the iso have to be in the same folder? I downloaded the v1.30 iso and the decrypted update from nicoblog. The same files work fine on my PSP though. I'm pretty sure that I just need to place my files in the right folders. Since it found the update for you no problem do you remember where you put the iso file? Or maybe it might be need to renamed.
Edit: Never mind, I just copied the files from my PSP. Thanks for the help!

RE: God Eater 2
Guess I could build an android build for 1.40, except that mobiles seems to have some problems now looking at github so not sure which version I should base it on:].

I've meddled with my setting a bit and found a workaround for android's startup crashes the only problem I have now is crashes at ending the mission, ill wait until a a android build is released.

RE: God Eater 2
I just figured out a hack to get my custom build working at a pretty much constant 100% speed with all consecutive missions (except some very minor speed changes that are normal for PPSSPP...I think). Unfortunately it seems that the official build has a different problem since I tried applying my new hack to an official source which I recently downloaded to test what makes the new update tick with consecutive missions and the speed problem remained the same problem in the official build with this new hack and my other 2 hacks. I still do hope it'll someday be playable without hacks though.
Mission description text, NPCs and the archive are still broken with my new hack.

@LunaMoo I realised my problem before was that I had fast memory on. I didn't know it was enabled by default nowadays (I haven't used the official build in a long while) and when it uses GE2 v1.40 with the 2 hacks it will run into invalid addresses every second mission (which of course will cause it to crash with fast memory enabled). Fast memory off works since it seems to be able to work past those invalid addresses.

@Cpkmn i'm still getting crashes without fast memory at the end of missions on the builds v0.9.8-695-g8c11559 and v0.9.8-826-g4873c5c.

RE: God Eater 2
@CPkmn yeah fast memory is from quite long time default now, not sure if it's because mobile users or to find more bugs that way, I always have it off.
How exactly did you made your fix for fps?
I ask because I had a success fixing it as well lol and on the official build:]. By setting GE2 to be treated like HDremaster and changing it's memory slightly, basically by adding:
Code:
{ "NPJH50832", 0x02F00000, false }, // GE2 workaround
to HDRemaster.h, additionally to other two hacks:]. Now I have a build that doesn't crash at all and have constant 30/30 fps as long as I don't take npc's to mission:]. However I admit that the amount of memory I set was just a lucky guess on my first try, not really sure if different number couldn't help with npc's as well.

We seem to be getting nice progress with hacks lol, but yeah, it would be nice to see it completely playable without any hacks.:]

@Kazalus that crash is exactly why we still use hacked build;p.

RE: God Eater 2
@LunaMoo the PC version that you uploaded for GE2 1.40 works fine so the memory would have to be adjusted again for it to work for that platform gonna continue experimenting.

RE: God Eater 2
@Kazalus android requires exactly same hacks as windows to work, I did not updated my android build for latest ge2 update and not planning to do it now, maybe in a week or two after new ppsspp updates calm down, git issues will not be spammed with performance and graphic regressions on android etc. Didn't saw anyone else posting modified android build either, so, if you really need it now you'll likely have to build a new version for yourself. and have time to learn it, you can just follow this guide which briefly explains how you can build ppsspp for android, eventually google for other guide, I don't remember any detailed one on our forum:|. Experimenting will not really change the sad fact that official build crashes at the end of mission or while taking npc's and build for 1.30 is even worser for current 1.40 version of the game.

----------------

As for windows build, I made a better one:
- Edit: removed, since any official build after v0.9.9.1-798-g4eb9dc0 works better.

Edit: -cut since obsolete-

RE: God Eater 2
@LunaMoo my build had a problem with a part of JIT which made it crash on consecutive missions. I slightly modified the JIT code to bypass the problem but if putting it in remaster mode helps the official build then it's great that we all now have a way to do the consecutive missions without weird speed bugs or crashing Smile
the other less important bugs (mission text broken, ......) are caused by my second hack. if you want to try removing it you can fix the other less important bugs but I'm pretty sure it'll cause missions to crash at the end (it did make the end of missions crash before without the second hack in v1.40, although I haven't seen if there is a difference in remaster mode).

@Lunamoo I'm working on it still getting crashes though and thanks for the updated version works well for me as well. I think I've figured out one of the problems with walking with npc's i just went on a mission with Ciel successfully but it crashed as soon as the aragami appear on the map.

RE: God Eater 2
@CPkmn that mission description glitch is kind of weird

it seems that whenever the text has added color, the whole line after the color get's added will disappear including non colored words if there were any after, however if the whole line was colored and next line was also in same color, the next line shows fine, but without the color.;o
It's like whatever command/sign is used to mark color is bugged, replaced with a sign to clear line or anything like that. @_@

I'm quite confused to what this second hack of yours even does, but by looking at game addresses which it affects it seems to actually give it 64mb of memory or at least it does write stuff higher by 0x1100000 than the build with hd remaster hack added. Which I thought I actually was giving the game extra memory by setting it at 0x02F00000 = 47mb, but it seems to be actually lower from earlier with just 2 hacks @_@. Trying to set it only as much as real psp should allow or even slightly more, will result in crash returning through.

Blah it feels like all our hacks are working by pure luck with what the game wants:C.
Maybe your jit fix was actually closer to actual problem?

@Kazalus what's the mission on which it happened?
I guess it's npc module being overwritten by modules that load at mission start like the module which loads aragami. Would be cool to just force the game to load everything at static address and give it as much memory it would need for that as it would likely remove all problems, however would probably need hacking the whole game;c.

RE: God Eater 2
It happened on a few missions where the aragami took a while to spawn also the graphic looks messed up when you have npc with you everything is usually grey/black on training missions.
