Possible to emulate XMB?

Possible to emulate XMB?
Would it be possible to emulate the XMB? Maybe not all of it (like the store etc.) but maybe the general UI? Choosing games would be pretty cool.

Also, is the XMB located in the flash0? I'm not sure about how to get it off though...

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
there is no point in doing it and it would be too much work I think

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
I think a quick way to get to recently selected games would be a nice tweak. I'm not sure there's any need to really copy the PSP's XMB interface.... it's not really very touch friendly.

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
PPSSPP cannot run the original XMB. We could imitate it but frankly it's not a great UI..

I do want to make a nicer UI for picking games though eventually.

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
Maby like on dolphin, where you can set the path to the iso and have a menu where you see information about the games and select the game you want.
But that is a thing for the future.

Sounds great to me :-)

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
Wait, is there any specific reasoning that it can't?

This would be cool. Wii System Menu in Dolphin works perfectly and Nintendo doesn't care.

Intel Core i7-3770S 3.1 GHz (Turbo 3.9 GHz)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 4096 MB
8 GB DDR3
Windows 8.1 Professional with Media Center 64-bit

Yup, whole XMB is located in flash0:/vsh/ folder.
Unfortunately, PPSSPP doesn't seem to use even decrypted .prx (programs/plugins) and .rco (resources) files from PSP/flash0 folder, it loads only font files, so trying to load XMB (vshmain.prx file) results in black screen.

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
Hey, XMB might be not the best interface, but why not to include it as a option? I, personally, really love a style of it and would absolutely prefer to use it over a standard one.

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
Nothing is stopping you from implementing it. PPSSPP is open source.

If you're asking someone else to work on it, do you really think "even if it sucks, why not?" is a convincing reason for someone to devote their time to it?

xM132x, we can't use decrypted drivers from a PSP, they won't work. We don't have a media engine core. If mpeg.prx tries to upload data there it will just evaporate, and then the XMB will crash anyway. Games aren't allowed to use the hardware directly, and this is true for many other things on the PSP than the media engine. So this is fine for emulating games, and probably the only way it can run at a decent speed on a current generation phone.

RE: Possible to emulate XMB?
But it would be nice if we could replace some PRXes without recompiling, just like fonts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but PPSSPP already has to emulate MIPS to execute games, so there won't be much performance loss. Sorry for my bad English.
