RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
I would recommend Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, it's simply the best for me Wink

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
Well, if I'm right, there are 3 official english Monster Hunter Games Released for PSP, plus one more with japanglish.

The game you played for ps2 must be MH2dos, cause i played it too Big Grin oohhh those ol' bads days :') what level 3-4 hardcore quests....

Okay, for psp, you have Monster Hunter Freedom (MHF) wich is (if I'm Right, never played it), a remake of the First Monster Hunter released for ps2 (again i dont know what they added/changed).

Then there is Monster Hunter Freedom 2 (MHF2), Wich would be, like MH2dos game you played (I'm sure all monsters of MH2dos are in this game), except its in another village, but has a lot of more quests/monsters! (in this one you have a Farm where you can collect stuff between quests, no longer endless farm gathering quests!).

And Then there is Monster Hunter Freedom United (MHFU) Wich is, an expansion of the Monster Hunter Freedom 2 adding more content and a few monsters, felynes comrades and other changes!
So MHFU would be also my recommendation (actually playing it lol)

Finally, there was a japanese game called Monster Hunter Portable 3 (or MH3rd, idk well), Wich has only released in Japan. However, i think there are some english patches around internet. I Heard its like the remake of MH3tri for Wii, but with more monsters, different maps, added subspecies, you can have two felynes comrades now, and other things more!

So make your Pick, and remember, Don't be a Hunter, be a Monster Hunter!
(sorry about my english lol)

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
Good choice Smile
Given that you are a beginner, you should start to do the training quests first Smile

On PC, I don't think you will have any problem with MHFU, this game is known to run well Smile
I don't own an Android device, so I can't help you on this point, but test it and you will see Wink

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
MHFU+1

however... i feel like MHP3 is kind of easier ~"~ (maybe just becoz i have been playing MHFU for quite a while and already trained up my skill LOL Tongue)

my comment on this game:
Great sword is simply an addicting weapon for Men XD (it's kind of romance with that charge attack Big Grin
Long sword is the best looking weapon, you know katana looks cool..

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
MHP 3rd is easier since the hitboxes were adjusted, and monsters have limited stamina(e.g. they get tired/hungry after a while, so they don't just infinitely attack you without a slight break period, but if you knock them into rage mode, they'll instantly regain all of their stamina). That doesn't mean it's not a great game though. I personally liked it a lot more than Unite(the atmosphere, the monsters, etc.).

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
I agree to say that MHP3rd is easier than MHFU, I have already tested it on a friend's PSP.
But contrary to daxtsu, I prefer MHFU's atmosphere and the fact that MHP3rd is only in Japanese blocked me (I know that patches exists but I don't like them)...

So, MHFU FTW ! Wink

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
So, I already play it a bit and:
a) - I'm AMAZED because I can play it smoothly with 2x resolution on Nexus 7 with frameskip set to auto Big Grin
b) - Without gamepad that game is extremely hard - but I'll get a OTG cable soon Big Grin
c) - On PC everything is even better so I guess that my social life will be having a quite hard time Tongue
BTW, sorry for any typos and so on.
Also, I'm waiting for more advices because I'm quite easy prey for all those monsters :<.

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is a game which is fairly difficult...
But the way to succeed is very simple : keep training ! Wink

Moreover, if you want to be strong enough against a monster, you have to learn of him : you should remember his attacks and his weak points for example Smile
And don't forget to choose the appropriate equipment depending on the monster (weapon and armor) Smile

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
just stick with the Yian Kut-Ku
until you can kill it with no damage

then you can kill most of the dragon type monsters in low rank

RE: The best Monster Hunter game for start?
Guess I should try it too. @Daxtsu,is MHFU easier than MGS:PW? Or is it a bit more complex?
