RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
i tried logging build 1542 again.
no luck getting config Sad
it always says "EGL context is new or was lost"

MHFU even works faster with higher FPS using build 1542.

what's the config chooser for this build?
is it Default? or alpha 0,depth 24?

.& what do u think is the reason why 1542 doesnt show EGL config?

RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
Yes there was no logging for EGL config back then because it just let it choose its own. The logging is in PPSSPP and was only added after.

I guess it's just from the depth=16 and alpha=8 that you lost the performance in that revision. Later when it was reverted, you may have lost performance for a different reason.

Example: 8/8/8/0/24 (fast) -> 8/8/8/8/16 (slow down!) -> 8/8/8/8/24 -> 8/8/8/0/24 (now)

Now that it has been reverted back to good config, speed should be back to normal. Maybe you have a slow down from something else as well?

RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
reverted since when?u mean the build im using now, 0.9.5-618.
has the same config as 0.9.1-1452?
but 618 is worser than older builds. in HarvestMoon , it only reaches 60%, (but if with frameskip auto, ofcourse everything will be fine)

i dont have much games to try.
coz all of them are full speed & playable ever since Big Grin

i only have 5 games for now. coz i deleted others which are fully playable too.like, MetalSlugXX,Megaman Powered Up, YS seven, Dragoneers aria,& others.
my games now are HM HOLV- slowdown prob
SOCOM - slowdown prob
MHFU - slowdown is almost not noticeable, so its ok.
Dynasty Warriors 2 - awesome
Mind Quiz - awesome

so its difficult to observe. Undecided

do u have suggestion for me to find what caused slowdown. if it is not EGL?

RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
Do you have 'Software Skinning' and 'Texture Coord Hack' enabled?
All my games started going full speed on Snapdragon after that.

Indeed, starting with build 611, the speed increased dramatically (+39%, 32fps-->44,5fps compared with build 610) in tekken 5 (practice mode), because of neon software-skinning optimization, didn't expect it to be that useful, earlier thanks to SS there was moderate boost of +23% (26fps-->32fps), so there's speed increase up to +70% with SS on in games that use it

P.S.: Sorry for previous wrong % values Shy, now they're corrected Wink

Oh good, I didn't benchmark the NEON skinning so didn't know if it would help much Smile

RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
@xsacha
* yes, coord & skinning checked.

* now i tried 673.
* using 3 games,

* Harvest Moon - still around 60-65%

* MHFU - actually gained speed, 1-2fps & 5-7% speed (i disabled, skinning here coz its slow, i used Decoder Jit instead)

* SOCOM - still the same, still slow and now with lower fps, while using my old setup, & also tried experimenting a bit. but still same, (the hacks, helps in speed, Alpha, Timer & Coord but the graphics is ruined)

* its hard to say that the slowdown is caused by my phone(due to having many apps) bcoz everytime i go back to 1452, u can really see & notice the good speed change.

* i really dont know whats the cause.
* maybe i'll just wait for updates.

* or just buy a new phone, (when i earn enough money Big Grin)

* thanks for response & help Smile

Globe, I can make a special build for you with latest code but with the old method of choosing EGL config.
You can tell me if it's faster.

* oh! thanks!
* please do.Smile post where to download & i will test it right away.

Quote: By the way, you don't still have the speed loss when you turn on Buffered Rendering right? Because EGL
doesn't affect that.

* i dont understand what u mean, (sorry for poor english understanding)

* but if u mean,

* " do i experience slowdown in Buffered Rendering"

* the answer is i do..
* Harvest Moon is the only game i have which needs it. and now with current build, it shows around 35-40% speed slowdown.

* When i use Buffered Rendering in MHFU & SOCOM, it becomes much slower than in Non-Buffered Mode.

Hmm? The version I sent should not show any EGL Config listings. I thought I commented that out.
Damn Java!

I'll upload new one.

RE: Current state of Snapdragon-based CPUs in PPSSPP
* Tested.

* A Noticeable speed increase Smile ( on games i mentioned atleast ) ( and compared to latest builds)

* i took a log, & no more EGL config.

* here is an ingame screenshot.
[Image: 34oxy78.jpg]

* i used the same setting here, like i do with 1542.

* i also tried experimenting with setup but the best speed i got is 87% with a FPS of 26/30.

* i noticed a few things, between 1452 & this one.

* First, the FPS,

* 1452 = 22fps
* xsacha's = 30fps

* Second, The Graphics.

* your build has a more cartoonish and light colored graphics,
* while in 1452, graphics is a little similar to "Natural Color" shader. much livelier color.

* & last , is in-game speed of the moving character & the sound.

*1452, sound is perfect, speed is perfect, but the movement is not so fast, its like contradicting what the fps & speed is showing.

* in sacha's, sound is almost perfect, speed is almost perfect, (i mean ofcourse sound is cracky because speed is low Tongue)
* but the character movement is super fast!
* like contradicting what the speed meter says.

* i'll take a more closer look. with everything.
