Tegra 3 issues.

Tegra 3 issues.
So I was noticing that on a number of games those of us on Android with Tegra 3 devices have black screens where other devices do not.

Are there any plans on increasing compatibility with Tegra 3?

It seems to me it mostly effects games that require buffered rendering, such as Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics, where maps won't display correctly but will on other devices.

Anyone else notice other games?

I also run a Tegra 3 device (Nexus 7 (2012) and have issues with these games. (These games work on my Macbook Mid 2010)(GPU - Nvidia GeForce 320m) using wine build (http://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=2510).
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (EU) - Load save game to get a black screen in barracks. (Fixed)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - Off centre.
Loco Roco - No video after the title screen.
DISSIDIA duodecim FINAL FANTASY - black screen in fights when BR is on (fixed)
Final Fantasy IV: CC - black screen in battles. (Fixed)

CPU = Intel Core i5 10500
GPU = Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660
Storage = 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 2TB HDD
RAM = 16GB DDR4
OS = Windows 11

Mobile Devices
Xiaomi Mi11
CPU = Qualcomm Snapdragon 888

RE: Tegra 3 issues.
Using a HiSense Sero 7 Pro and a Nexus 7, both of which are Tegra 3 devices. I've encountered black screens in games too.

RE: Tegra 3 issues.
I show Duodecim has a black screen with BR on but is pretty playable with the right settings.

Tactics Ogre a black screen appears when critical hits or certain spells are performed. It goes back to normal if you enter the PPSSPP menu and then back to the game, but it is frequent and annoying.

Ys seven you need to have the framebuffers GPU setting to get the mini may but it severely affects speed so you have to choose between the two.

Final Fantasy complete collection the battle graphics won't show up unless you turn off frameskip completely and buffered rendering which prohibits you from getting a decent speed. This worked much better on earlier builds.

Those are the games I play the most and are most concerned about so I cannot input on many others.

RE: Tegra 3 issues.
I know I'm a little Off-topic because the title says "Tegra 3 issues" but I'm also having these issues with my Tegra 2 device. Don't ask what is the model of my device because it's a local brand in the Philippines. Just wanted to say it. Maybe there's a connection. Smile

Tegra 2 is like Tegra 3 only differences is its Dual-Core instead of Quad-Core and doesn't have the ARM's advanced SIMD extension—NEON.
They have the same GPU.
Tegra 2 = dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with ARMv7 instruction set, 8-core GeForce ULP GPU (4 pixel shaders, 4 vertex shaders), Lackes NEON.
Tegra 3 = quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with ARMv7 instruction set, 12-core GeForce ULP GPU (8 pixel shaders, 4 vertex shaders), Has NEON.

On my first gen Nexus 7 I use MX Player as the primary video player,do you recommend the NEON codec mx player has?

RE: Tegra 3 issues.
The most common Tegra 2 (99% of devices) had a GPU with a 300MHz clock. The most common Tegra 3 had a 520MHz clock on its GPU.
The RAM is clocked similarly. (300 MHz vs 533MHz).
So there is a significant speed increase, despite having only 12-core vs 8-core.

Personally I use Tegra 3 @ 620MHz.

RE: Tegra 3 issues.
Just for debugging's sake,could you please try downloading build v0.9.1-2300-g60d0f2a from http://buildbot.orphis.net/ppsspp/ (Use CTRL+F for easy access)

Please notify if the tegra issues from the current build are gone using the above ppsspp version.
(DO note that v0.9.1-2300-g60d0f2a has fixes for mobile gpus on buffered rendering mode but as a drawback introduced tons of graphical glitches.I'm just asking you to test it to see if the fixes for this version also applies to Tegra.In other words,do not notice the other bugs produced by this version but instead see if the current bugs are fixed.)

PLs attach ppsspp log

BTW,latest build has fixes for tegra
