Updating the guide in abit to cater for 0.9.5.

Stay tuned.

EDIT:- Updated the guide to account for the release of 0.9.5. Not much has changed if you were already on the latest dev builds, the most notable changes are in the locations of the options; some have been moved around etc.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
ok so i have a problem. my comp is like a windowvisa like from the 2004-5. anyway. i got the ppsspp window version. when i try to turn it on it saids i need to downloud this erm thingy which i did but it still dosnt work. so i tried redownloading directx and opengl... but the main concern is that when i open it, it saids '' your UPG'' isnt capatible with it.... i was wondering what it means by that...

on my android when i go to play kingdomhearts birth by sleep final mix. it works perfect. its just that around the character everything is like... not seeable. im only able to see in a circle around the character. and its ruining my gaming expereance Sad help please

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
A new performance feature has been added, "Software Skinning". Depending on the game and your device, it can yield everything from huge speed boosts to slowdowns, so it's a tricky one Smile It's really great for FF:CC on Adreno at least.

I'll update my first post with that feature once I'm done with some further testing with the games in my test suite and posted the table, since it yields rather mixed results. I.e. games it boosts it does pretty well, but the slowdowns aren't insignificant either.

Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
Updated the guide to reflect the addition of Software Skinning. Thanks again Henrik.

You can leave it on for a lot of games except for the following which suffer massive slowdowns with the option enabled:

The Monster Hunter series (Freedom Unite in particular suffers a lot when SS is enabled)
Gods Eater Burst
Untold Legends Brotherhood of the Blade

Recommended games to enable the option with:

Tekken series (Tekken 6 in particular becomes a lot more playable when Software Skinning is enabled)
God of War series
FF Crisis Core (biggest improvement here)
FF Type 0
The 3rd Birthday
Persona 3

The rest of the games tested seem to show either good improvements or unchanged performance.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
Updated the guide to reflect the introduction of Texture Caching options since v0.9.6-289-g9281fcc. These options were previously hidden to the enduser before this, and have now been exposed. Default setting for both options are False for compatibility reasons (some games have erratic text behaviour when one or both options are enabled), but one can re-enable both to regain performance.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

regrettably Obscure The Aftermath is not compatible with new versions ppsspp not work in android, ios and also in PC

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
Mainly I used buffered rendering on every single game I have but some games have weird graphics when buffered rendering enabled (ex: Kingdom hearts birth by sleep) 10%-40% and for more speed I always disable enable debug logging it speed up all my games (I have 12) 30%-60% and sometime turning off fast memory really speeds up 20% most games I usually turn off vertex cache and midmapping and check texture coord speedhack instead speeds up 30% and usually it makes black screen dissapear.

My phone
Samsung galaxy s3
Ram 832mb
Quad core processor

Hope it helps

RE: Guide:- Maximizing the performance of PPSSPP on your Android/Windows device.
I'm running PPSSPP v0.9.6-338-g367a5b7 on my ipad 4 ios 7.0.1 (16 GB wifi)

and it runs great only downside is the game is always stretched full screen even when set to 1x psp ...

for some games its better the have it not stretched over the wide of the screen (especially on ipad)[maybe add 0.5x psp for ipad/tablets only]
