Can someone recommend a game(rpg)
It's like those games are one of a kind...I have PS1,PS2,NDS,PSP and PC of course but I can't find any game that have this kind of battle system.

Ar Tonelico 2 for PS2 - I really like this battle system(depending on your timing, you can completely block an attack and the music is really good)

Legend of Legaia 1(PS1)\2(PS2) - I also like this battle system and I never find any other game with this battle system.

Super Robot Taisen OG Saga - Endless Frontier 1\2 for NDS - I don't like Namco x Capcom and the only other game is Project X Zone but I don't have 3DS

If there is a PSP game with one of those battle systems,it will be great.

I don't liked of NEO, a liked of EXA. Shining Force EXA, is more recent, and better than previous.

I played Shining Force NEO some minutes in PCSX2 and I don't liked.

RE: Can someone recommend a game(rpg)
Hmm,how exactly it's better.
I played EXA first and I definitely liked NEO a lot more.

Play it some more, not just "some minutes"...it takes at least 30 minutes before the game start to become really good.

If you play it for an hour or two,you will start preferring that game too.
One of the things that I liked most in the weapons,is that the weapon you find can contains even spells like Holy as a last hit(hit everything around you) or Chaos Gate to hit everything around you and petrify them at the same time.

You can also use anything that both characters from the other game can...you are not limited to use magic only with one of the characters like on EXA

OK, I will play a bit more, later. Maybe we prefer different games because is the first game that each of us played. I prefer the EXA because was the first, and you prefers the NEO because you played before than EXA.

I don't know if is only on PCSX2, but the graphics of Shining Force EXA is better.

I played EXA first too...it was good game but when I started NEO,I liked NEO a lot more

Well in most cases that's normal...the game is newer than NEO but I still prefer NEO.

I played EXA 2 times and NEO at least 4 times

I saw a comparative, and the EXA gain to the NEO. EXA 16/20 and NEO 15/20. The EXA have a better gameplay, but the NEO have a better story. Both games have some advantages.

RE: Can someone recommend a game(rpg)
Hmm,I wonder what that "better gameplay" is.

Good story is my number one requirement for a game...if the story is boring(especially from the beginning)I'll get bored really fast and stop playing the game...it may have great battle system or music but if the story is boring,I don't think I'll play the game more than once.

Just spend more time playing it,don't give a conclusion if you played the game less than 2 hours...I'm 99% sure you'll start preferring NEO if you play the whole game.

Those are my favorite PS2 games:
Ar Tonelico 2 - Good story, great battle system and cool music(especially hymnos)
Atelier Iris 2 - Long story, kinda good battle system and cool music
Atelier Iris 3 - The story is not something special but I like the battles and the music(I always search for boss battle request because I really like the music on those boss battles)
Hack GU - The battles are good(not great) but I like the story and the voice acting...the music is not bad too
Legacy of Kain Defiance - I really like the story and the battles are good too...cleared this game at least 7 or 8 times(maybe more)
Legaia 2 Duel Saga - Good story and I like the battle system(sadly only two games exist with this battle system)
Mana Khemia - I like the story and the battles
Rogue Galaxy - All good...story,battle system and music
Shadow Hearts 2 - out of the 3 parts, this one is the best
Shining Force Neo
Soul Reaver 2 - I like this game too(along with the first part)
Tales of Destiny DC - Even tho the game is Japanese only and I barelly understad japanese,I still like the story and the battle system
Tales of the Abyss - Story and battles(especially battles)...cleared that game at least 5 times and I still don't get bored every time I start a new game
Xenosaga - out of the 3 parts,I like this one the most...the story is great but the battles are not all that special and all cut scenes are voice overed...no borring text reading.

I have a lot more PS2 games but those are my favorite

Glad to know someone else who enjoys Defiance as much as I do, If you have the PC version, please check this post I made on the Eidos Forums, you might like it:

Also I see we have the same taste for RPGs, I enjoyed the hell out of the Ar Tonelico and Atelier Series

I have the PC version too.
Thanks for the link but I don't have wide screen monitor(normal 17inch CRT monitor)...it looks weird in wide screen mode and I don't really care about graphics(on any game)
I just like the story and the gameplay...especially when I start doing combos(my graphic settings are just 1024x768 and BF,no AA and no effects and the game still look good enough for me).

RE: Can someone recommend a game(rpg)
Yeah, I am not a graphics whore either, the only think that seems to cause me nausea is 30FPS on games, that's why I quit playing Diablo II and its horrible 25FPS cap fast gameplay

Speaking on the game itself, the thing which really attracted me was the great story and the superb voice acting, aside for the battle system ofc (I enjoyed this kind of battle system more than the DMC series)

Same here...the battle system on Soul Reaver 1\2 was ok but on Defiance was the best of all 3 games
I've never played Blood Omen 1\2 but the main reason was because I really hate this battle system on which you have to completely stop to go in another direction(Onimusha 3 and below, most of the Tomb Rider games and so on)

The more agile the character, the better...and if you have a lock-on ability,it will make me like a game even more.

And about diablo...my total play time is probably below 12 hours.

RE: Can someone recommend a game(rpg)
No, don't get my wrong, I loved Diablo II...my total play time is perhaps 7+ years, but it's frame rate ultimately take its toll on me. Also did you played Dark Souls, I know its an action RPG and maybe its not the kind of game you like, but I am having a blast with this game, so check it out and give me your opinion
