That's because the menus don't get displayed yet. Just play it with your psp at the same time to get to in-game.
Although the game is unplayable currently due to no huds, menus, and characters being rendered black after 1 frame from touching the floor



also I found a funny bug with savestates and this game.
In certain rooms(about 1/4 of them) if you savestate. Then load that savestate, when leaving the current room you spawn in the next room in the center and the game gets broken(i.e. you can move but nothing else is generated and you can't leave the room)

Lol I have a savestate that has the player under the floor falling in a loop, the funny thing is the character displays correctly not black
