Newer version 20-30fps
I use PPSSPP on PC.

On version 0.7.5 i had very awesome performance. Always 60fps. Super Big Grin
But i downloaded newer version. 0.7.6. With music support. Unfortunately all my games runs about 20-30 fps on this version.
Why?
I want to have 60 fps like before and music too!

RE: Newer version 20-30fps
The added music feature makes the emulator heavier. ie more cpu/gpu resourses are needed to emulate not just the game but music now also. They will find a way to balance it out I'm sure.

It's a matter of optimization. The emulator while not on exact early stages, still struggles to bring more compatibility and that is the number #1 priority for developers right now. Your choice would be get a better hardware or wait for performance tweaks that will eventually appear.

RE: Newer version 20-30fps
Music is needed for good gameplay, but it's not absolutely necessary, so I'd turn it off somehow for performance's sake, and turn on some background (in a player) music theme for that game.

Fly Evo Chic 3, Android 4.4.2 Stock, improved stock kernel

RE: Newer version 20-30fps
If you're looking at FPS vs VPS, these are different numbers. FPS is what the game renders. If your system is running slow, FPS will still show 30 if the game is rendering 30 frames per "virtual second".

VPS is the number of times your display is actually updated by the emulator, and is a measure of "real world" fps. If this number (VPS) is 60.0, you're running at full speed.

We may have bugs, and I'm aware of at least two games that seem to be rendering less frames than they should. But, this is different from a performance issue - even if you fast forward, your VPS might increase to 120 or more, but the FPS will stay the same.

Or is your VPS much lower?

RE: Newer version 20-30fps
Very interesting. I tried several games from P3P to Ratchet & Clank but it doesn't matter, either the sound plugin is active or not: there's no performance gain or loss. You said that happens with all your games, which makes me believe it could be a driver issue that appeared thanks to some bug in a newer version, this is just a heads up though. You didn't change any settings from your previous setup? 0.7.6 could have added something aside audio since 0.7.5.

I just had to turn down my settings. In full screen mode i turned Sal off. And this pretty much fixed all in game fps and issues.

This is especially true if you're using it with Buffered Rendering, take one or the other.
