Yeah.

If you can't find an extractor that can grab it out of the PKG, then yeah, it's your only legal option. I can't/won't help you obtain the game from the 'net. Tongue

i've tested the cpu speed and it works, no longer lag when fighting in the tundra, even with 2 monster Big Grin

Good to hear that the CPUSpeed option helps in this game too. Smile For the record, what speed did you try?

im using the 666 one, however i notice some small problem with the cpu speed, most of the time it will crash when you try to load state (if you restart the emu and try to load state, it works).
i've tried with different speed (222,333) still crashing.
if you disable it though it will work fine, but the slowdown will occur.
i dont know if it only happen to me, maybe someone else can confirm this?

I can confirm the save state crashing when you use the lock option. I'm not sure of the cause yet, though. I'll see if I can find out what's up eventually.

@devilsingh

It won't break other games at all. It may enhance their performance.

I know of only one game that breaks with the hack on, and that is Tekken 6, which requires 222 MHz and only 222 MHz to boot up properly.

The hack can be turned off at any time too if you don't want it. No issues then. Everything works as usual.

Hope that clears the misunderstanding.

@devilsingh

daxtsu made this adjustable CPU speed hack not just for PSP remasters but also to help other games that are having timing issues which lead to internal slowdown. It is perfectly safe to use this hack for other purposes. It is relatively harmless. You can change it to what ever you want.

Read his original pull request for the submitted hack here, and understand what the original purpose of the hack is for:-

https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/2235

Examples include, Legend of Heroes: Trails in The Sky, Ys Seven, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and many others which may have internal slowdown.

Internal slowdown in this case being defined as games having less than 30 FPS even though the VPS counter (an indicator of your device's performance) shows 60 VPS.

Read this github thread for more details:-

Okay, lets backtrack a little.

Start from the beginning again.

What files do you have right now.

List them, one at a time.

If you followed daxtsu's instructions from the first page, you would have either ended up with a:-

1. PKG file

or a

2. EBOOT.PBP file

Both which should be compatible with the PSN PKG Decryptor and Extractor program I linked to earlier.

Here's a helpful video from TeamMaverick to extract and patch the game from your BD-ROM:-

http://youtu.be/Ta8gCIDcua8

(Note:- The use the toolset from PSP2PS3, obtainable here:-

http://www.ps3news.com/ps3-hacks-jailbre...ps3-tools/

Ok I started again. I have the PKG taken from the disc, unpatched obviously. I try to extract it with with PSN PKG Decrypter & Extractor but and it extracts but the CONTENT folder has no eboot inside and is empty.

EDIT: A different decrypter gives me an error saying 'illegal characters in path'. I think this is due to the Japanese characters in the eboot, is there any solution?

I don't see the point, so no, I won't be implementing it. Just set whatever games you want to 666. There's also a GUI for the CPUSpeed option coming, and eventually it'll be a per-game setting, so again, there's no point.

I'm facing this exact problem as well. I received my copy of MHP3HD today but my PS3 died earlier this week so I'm unable to go with the installing the pkg route for this. I've tried every pkg extractor I can find and nothing has worked. They either just ignore the eboot or crash/error during extraction.

Has anybody here actually used a pkg extractor successfully for this game, or did you all use your PS3?

It would be the latter... as there is no known(IMO) PKG extractor that can successfully retrieve the EBOOT.PBP from the pkg UNLESS it is installed in a haxxed PS3 first, blame Japanese for having used Kanji/Katakana/Hiragana/Whatever-gana in the folder structures for the PKG (I think). Daxtsu is being mean Sad , uploaded an extractor after I posted this... Big Grin

I can probably try ripping the game out tomorrow, since my PS3 is still being repaired atm.

I want to craft that Pumpkin armor set again, in my PC Big Grin

edit. Look at post Below.

RE: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD VER
I just uploaded a PKG extractor(see first post) which has a bugfix to allow for the Japanese named files to be extracted from HD Remaster packages. They'll show up as files like "0.raw", "1.raw", etc. Just rename the largest one(most likely 1GB+ in size) to EBOOT.PBP and you should be good to go in regards to extracting the ISO out of it.

Requires .NET 3.5.

RE: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD VER
Question, the EBOOT doesn't necessarily have to BE inside the usrdir/content directory after extraction with your tool? since the largest file I got "10.RAW" is at the same directory as all those PNG files... ?

RE: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD VER
No, it won't be inside usrdir/content if you use this PKG extractor program.

Update: Edited first post with a new bugfix. It shouldn't affect anything, but the actual check wasn't that great..

RE: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD VER
So I got the 10.RAW file after extracting as the largest file available, renamed it to EBOOT.PBP and copied it to a directory with a couple of tools.

1. Running "mongoose -" on command prompt = NpegOpen Error..
2. Running npdpc either double clicking or running in command prompt still results in NpegOpen error.

Thoughts?

EDIT. Using version 2 of your PKG tool now gives a "Illegal Character in Path" error.

RE: Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD VER
It seems like the PKG extractor doesn't decrypt the eboot.bin. I'll look for a way to decrypt it. Mangoose/npdpc need it to be in a decrypted form before the ISO can be extracted, it seems.
