As I mentioned in the github issues page you made, you need to turn off Media Engine to get game running properly.

This is a very old issue, what I've mentioned is still the solution.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

@solarmystic, thanks for your information. How about the graphical bug issue like shadow around character? Is there any setting to remove that shadow? I had try buffered rendering off (the shadow was gone but screen become flickering). Thanks before that.

Yeah, that problem on the other hand has no known solutions for now. It did not exist in 0.6, only started appearing in ppsspp 0.7 revisions and above.

Refer to the github issues page here for more details:-

RE: Mortal Kombat - Unchained
In 0.7.6-1530, the strange effect (multiplying characters) when you turn buffered rendering on is gone! But the shadows are still wrong (big black rectangles) and the videos are not working properly (sound only).

Confirmed. Game is actually a lot more playable now because of this.

Tracing back the revision which fixed the flickering characters...

EDIT:- Found it! v0.7.6-1508-g4bb9e32 is the one that fixed the flickering/multiplying chracters effect.

It looks much more normal now.

@NGboo
You're right, the shadows are broken again in the latest builds. I'll do a quick traceback to see which one undid the progress.

I found out which one undid the progress.

Apparently the shadows went back to being boxy again in v0.8.1-566-gbb5a1e4

Use v0.8.1-564-g6d5d531 if you want better character shadows for now.

RE: Mortal Kombat - Unchained
In the latest builds (0.8.1-655 and 2 or 3 versions before it), sound FX are almost completely silent.

RE: Mortal Kombat - Unchained
@NGboo

They are not completely silent. You just have to increase the SE Volume to 6,7 or 8 in the Audio Settings.

The range used to be 1-5 now it's 1-8, which is the cause of the issue, since this commit:-
