Google Nexus 7 (2013) or EVGA Tegra Note 7?
I'm thinking of buying a new android tablet. My budget is around 200-250 USD. I'll normally use the tablet for gaming, movies, books and browsing. These two seem like the best currently available tablets for my price range.

EVGA Tegra Note 7-
1.8 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4
1GB Ram
1,280 x 800 pixels (217 ppi)

Google Nexus 7 (2013)-
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, 1.5GHz
GPU: Adreno 320, 400MHz
2 GB Ram
1920x1200 HD display (323 ppi)

I've read the posts about NVIDIA Shield, which also uses Tegra 4, is great for running PPSSPP. On the other hand, I've read that Snapdragon processors are generally bad at running PPSSPP. Nexus 7 has twice the ram and a higher display resolution than Tegra Note.

Which one of these two tablets would be better for running PPSSPP? Also, if you know a better tablet for running PPSSPP that's in my price range, please tell me about it. Thanks in advance.

Tegra is the better GPU for PPSSPP. I have not benchmarked the Nexus 7 2013, however.

Would the Ram and CPU make any difference in performance?

RAM doesn't matter much for PPSSPP as it uses only about 100 mb of it (if I'm not mistaken), CPU on the other hand means a lot for any emulator - the higher the clock and dmips index - the higher the performance, it doesn't matter much how many cores it has, but dual-core is of course better than single

Tegra - better for emulators, and any other Android games which require less than 1GB RAM (I didn't see any Android game that would take more than that) besides some games are designed for Tegra and won't run on other devices (stupid marketing)

Snapdragon - you actually don't need that fullhd resolution as it lowers performance in games (for other things it is great), the only good thing about it is 2 GB of RAM that future Android high-end games could require, but you can always use swap

Samsung Captivate, Android 2.3.5 SAUROM, Corn Kernel v701
Fly Evo Chic 3, Android 4.4.2 Stock, improved stock kernel

i don't know if it has been fixed yet, but ppsspp used to have problems running on android devices with fullHD screens.

and you should also consider storage if you want to use it for games and movies.
with the nexus 7 you'll have a choice between 16 or 32 GB for movies and games.
with the tegra note 7 you have between 16 and 80GB for movies and games, of which 16GB can be used for android games.

if u consider other sides of an android tablet, web browsing, design, system upgrade support; nexus 7 is no match within this price range

It's obvious the tegra note is the best choice for psp emulation between this pair of devices.

This is the only "first hand opinion" i can found on inet, copied from xda forums ...

"hey guys just some feed back i have my Note, and i love it. its Crazy fast. and for performance , its at the top of all benchmarks iv tried its a bit heaver than the nexus 7 (2013), my mother has one, and a bit dimmer and yes the screen rez is alot lower on the note, BUT, the games look amazing. not only that but for when using it with say... PPSSPP, you see a bit frame jump. just need to wait for the dev's to fix for specific games. the front camera is shocking.. but you will never use that. and for the back, its fun and has slow-mo, which made me and my misses laugh a bit. the pen is amazing too, Very fast response time, and very good to use with Fruit ninja, and cut the rope for example, for web surfing, its Fast i mean Really fast compared the the old nexus 7. the speakers are Very loud and clear.

over all i love this.! just waiting on the slide case and the other pens to come out!"

I'm very impatient to see the first videos of the emulator working on that little beast ...

I would pick the EVGA Tegra note 7 for the Tegra 4 CPU and SD card slot.

PC specs
CPU = Intel Core i5 10500
GPU = Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660
Storage = 240GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 2TB HDD
RAM = 16GB DDR4
OS = Windows 11

Mobile Devices
Xiaomi Mi11
CPU = Qualcomm Snapdragon 888
GPU = Adreno 660
RAM = 8GB
Storage = 256GB
OS = Android 12

RE: Google Nexus 7 (2013) or EVGA Tegra Note 7?
I just upgraded from Nexus 7 (2012/Tegra3) to Tegra note 7 Chinese Ver.. The performance is obviously better than before. I can run FF7:Crisis Core with 2x resolution at 100% speed. if the games run 88-95% speed and sometimes drop frames on nexus7 2012,now at tegra note become smooth.
Of course, same games still have graphics problems because of the emu. And I tried Tekken 6 just run at 75% speed.

In a word, Tegra note 7 is fast, convenience (have a Micro SD card slot) & the price is reasonable. For me Full HD is not a must.

However, I don't know other ver. if it is same as Chinese ver. becuase it did not come with the google services pack. I have to root it then install it manually.
