Question PSX 2 PSP
Hi all, Has anybody managed to run PS1 games - converted to PSP format using the program PSX2PSP?... with the PPSSPP emulator?

a few years back I converted some PS1 titles to ISO/CSO format (PSP) and played them without issues. It was great playing classic gems like Resident Evil 1,2,3, Dino Crisis (all) MK: Trilogy, and banned games like Thrill Kill.

I will try this eventually when iOS 7 is jailbroken on iPhone, but hopefully you folks can answer this already.

*wants to play - Shaolin & Bushido blade, one more time Smile

RE: PSX 2 PSP
The PSX emulator, which is normally on the PSP device, isn't included with PPSSPP.

There are no 'converted games', they are simply packed in to an EBOOT and run in POPS (PSX emulator).

RE: PSX 2 PSP
There's no way to do the same thing with a PS2 game to run on PPSSPP? Big Grin

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

RE: PSX 2 PSP
yep agree.. why would you want ppsspp to emulate a psx emu? when there is clearly a few already out..

Fpse is the best ps1 emu imo...

RE: PSX 2 PSP
Have in mind guys that other platforms do not enjoy these benefits, so it'd be nice to emulate psx on them through ppsspp, like iOS (I think so at least)

-Samsung galaxy S3 International version - Android 4.4.2
-Dual Core locked CPU, Clocked at 1Ghz-1.8Ghz
-Mali 400MP4 GPU Clocked from 160Mhz to 533Mhz
-1GB ram, boo..

RE: PSX 2 PSP
Well i guess when the Emulator reaches a stage where about each and every comercial game runs without fail it should be pretty much able to get support for plugin *.prx files.

Since the *.prx files call nothing else the games wouldn't already i doubt it'd be impossible to implement. (The games being compressed into *.prx files themselves and all...)

A game is being compressed on a PSAR archive, a prx file is an executional/module/ELF file and nothing more tha that.

PS1 games on PSP require some Kernel stuff that PPSSPP's HLE does not have and none of the PSP games call them so I don't see them getting implemented so... ...you get the idea.

Seeing how POPSloader already works that magic on PSP and the goal of an Emulator would ultimately being able to implement 100% functionality on a different plattform.... you get the idea.. i guess?

RE: PSX 2 PSP
Seriously whats the point of transfering psx games to psp format since there is a verry good stable and fast emulator for android and pc called epsxe? Im using it and im happy got like 40 games on my phone ; D and with that application im sure sure there will be no crashes and everything will run smoothly .

O hai! Testing everything Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE Android 4.3

The main reason I ask this really. Is because the converted PSX games files are much more compressed, half the size of the PSX image. Other than than, nothing much.

Yeah, but is not going to happen or the reasons I listed there.

RE: PSX 2 PSP
There would be little to no point supporting Pops mode since there are already emulators like Epsxe and Fpse out there. IIRC Epsxe can already read PSP-PS1 eboots, so give it a whirl if you want..

Not to mention running an emulator in an emulator is usually a Bad Idea™(usually you'll see poor speeds and/or instability)...
