Phantasy Star Portable 2

RE: Phantasy Star Portable 2
Hello.

My first message here, and just felt like registering to give a big THANK YOU to TheDax and solarmystic.

I've been struggling with this game's graphic glitches for some time, and kept playing with them just because I happen to like the game so much. I've been keeping up with the discussions going on here and on GitHub, but haven't chimed in because I'm a complete illiterate as far as programming goes, and had nothing to add to the discussion. I felt like giving it a shot though, and followed solarmystic's guide on how to compile on Windows, and apply the tweak TheDax mentioned on her (his..? I'm sorry, I really dunno.. your avatar from GitHub is Etna from Disgaea, so I figured female... but anyway) post at GitHub.

Compiled my own version and, Jesus tapdancing Christ, the game is SO much more playable like this. The side-effects of seeing doors and whatnot thru some objects are by far much more tolerable than being unable to SEE YOUR OWN FEET... and the floor, for that matter. I've been doing a lot more open missions now, which I used to just skip over (basically all except the very first one? Maybe a couple others where you could see the floor, actually).

TL,DR: Thanks Dax and solarmystic for the help in making this possible, even if just a temporary fix. Smile

Try playing(I clear that act tho)Chapter 6 Act 1 without this fix Big Grin
To be able to see floor and those rotating thing makes the Act WAY more easier.
If ppsspp didn't have the save state feature, good luck clearing that act without this fix

Just fought Olga Flow Final Form and upon beating him, the game randomly crashed. Anyone else had this problem before? I have never had the program crash on me.

RE: Phantasy Star Portable 2
Well @level99procrastinator on git made a proper hack(well it's not like hacks are proper;p, but it's not buggy as the one people are using here) in #7069, you can compile your own version with it or wait for it to merged.

Althrough it seems to be kind of forgotten from over a week or maybe Henrik waits for a less hacky solution. Hacks aren't really welcome in the project since they clutter the code and also leads to confusion because many users check every option without thinking then report issues wasting people's time.

RE: Phantasy Star Portable 2
Good news! With 9.9.1-936 the workaround hack to fix the graphics glitch has been implemented Smile

Make sure the Depth Range Hack under hack setting is checked

RE: Phantasy Star Portable 2
Yeah, whoever implemented the depth range hack - if you're around here - hats off to you, you're doing god's work.

Now if we could only get multiplayer working in this game.... *heavy breathing*
