Try changing these.

Texture filtering: Linear on FMV
Screen scaling filter: Linear

I've just tried every filtering and scaling combination possible, and I've had some quite strange results:

When bicubic or hybrid+bicubic texture upscaling is turned on, I always get the boxes.

When hybrid texture upscaling type is turned on and texture filtering and screen scaling are set to nearest, I sometimes get boxes and sometimes don't.

When texture upscaling type is set to xBRZ and the two options you mentioned are set to nearest, the boxes don't appear, but I'm hoping there's a different workaround because I really don't like xBRZ Sad

Oh yea, it does that. And no, I dont think there is a workaround. That is why I play without upscaling most of the time.

There are only 2 proper and easily available ways to remove such lines:
- decrease rendering resolution to x1(as going above is direct reason of such problems) - that should always work,
- increasing texture resolution to at least match render res multiplier - note automatic upscaling isn't the only thing to do that, texture replacement will allow you to make better textures by hand and for ui elements you don't exactly need to be an artist everyone can draw lines and boxes;p.

Forcing texture filtering to "nearest" while can also hide it, is just bad, so I wouldn't really recommend messing with it;p.

Made it for this english patch which really needs advertisement:], will affect less things in unpatched version as well as patched with the abandoned broken translation.

If anyone's an artist, please feel inspired to make a better one, I'm not and might not even have time to improve it.;c

My patched copy identifies as uljm05781 while saves with npj50491, which makes the game see this as a corrupted save. Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Different game ID does not make the game save corrupted. It's a mistake made by fan translators who made that full translation, but it's harmless outside of requiring different game ID for things like cwcheats. That translation has much more serious problems like text not fitting the screen or bugging out some DLC missions, but it doesn't cause any savedata problem, so if it shows as corrupted, it might as well be corrupted.

i just downloaded winDS pro apps to play VC3 but all the saves the game makes are corrupted files, my brother who also plays the game (he gave me the ISO) has no issues.
sorry if this is already ansewered but i know litle to nothing about this and i'm afraid of doing something that may break the thing
i've tried the 64bits and the 32bits

So I'm playing on v1.8.0 and enjoying it so far, but there's a wierd visual glitch that's been driving me nuts. Enemies become invisible when viewed through the sniper scope. Anyone encounter this?

Try different backend, OGL should differ from Vulkan/D3d11 when it comes to depth and pretty sure zooming in with sniper rifles has some depth issues in VC games.

I tried the font replacement mod by lunamoo, but it's working and not on 1.9.3. the icons replace and a few of the UI fonts, but the rest are non-functional. I'm assuming the offsets might have changed? Update: Didn't see the textures were for a partial patch, not the full one that's around the net. Any possibility of this being updated for the full patch?

Unless I'm living under a rock and [Unknown] got a team and finished his project, there's really nothing to "update".
There are few translations existing for this game AFAIK:

1) Very old english translation that's probably most known, but:
- incomplete, basically bare-bones of main plot and mission objectives, not much else translated,
- buggy, ranging from glitches that cause some text to be unreadable through incorrect stats and missing at least one Ace and his unique weapon,
- patching method itself it just awful, requires java and jpcsp, can fail with too long path,
- changes gameID to a wrong one despite not translating sfo file.

2) Fairy new and still updated spanish translation which seems to be complete by now:
- changes fonts to include spanish specific glyphs requiring different font textures for replacements not just different hashes,
- potentially based on the above broken english translation as it also changes gameID and if they didn't bothered to fix that, it might also have other problems of that english translation which would be really awful.

3) English UI-only patch by [Unknown]:
- translates menus including mission objectives and does not have any known bugs,
- also translates sfo and keeps proper gameID,
- [Unknown] is really great programmer and even small details matter for him so if this ever get's finished, it'll likely be the best experience for this game english users could get,
- already is considering it's potentially the only one that doesn't break the game.

A bunch of text in this game is just textures, hence different translation will require different textures. My tiny replacement work was based on most playable and up-to-date english translation there is mostly because I wanted to do something to promote it seeing only chance to get a proper translation in his project.

On a side note I tried some AI upscaling in addition to my manual work from years ago and while a lot of stuff is pretty awful with seams and stuff that really needs manual edits here and there, some things are pretty nice.

I did find someone interested, but I think they got scared off by the full size of the script. I heard about another possible effort but I don't know its status. Still open to anyone interested.

That AI upscaling screenshot indeed looks pretty nice.

A pity, unfortunately that's how it is with fan translations, the bigger the script the lower's the chance someone will want or even have enough free time to translate it, through maybe with soo many people sitting at home nowadays some translator will get bored enough.Smile

I shared the AI upscaling texture pack in here. Spent last few hours on it, but it takes ages to go between maps and dump different stuff, so I didn't sorted it as well as I would like and some textures look bad enough that should just be removed from it althrough I did try to fix some things manually like that sniper scope which had lots of seams otherwise.
