PSP Demos Compatibility (Updated)
It seems ppsspp cannot yet run almost all of the psp demo games available.Out of many i've tested only Ridge Racer 2 demo plays perfectly.Others just make the emulator crash.
From what i've seen demos which require psp f/w 2.81 or above crash while trying to run(Haven't tested any game needing older f/w excluding Ridge Racer 2).Maybe the Eboot reader cannot read .pbp formats correctly most of the times or some f/w problem.Who knows??
I think the feature of running demos should be taken into consideration as from my view many people do try out demos before buying the full game.
So if anyone has tested any demos please do post in this thread and if you can, post the crashlog (For pc users)which would help the devs rectify this problem.

To the Moderators of this forum : If i am not asking too much ,can you guys please make a Psp Demo Games Subforum (Like the one you made for psp mini games) as there are lots of demo games available. It would really help you guys fix the demos crashing bug which i think is related to the file format reader which ppsspp uses to run games and homebrew.Thank you

Edit : Demos are finally working now .Tried on ppsspp svn v0.7.6-482-g96cb66a . Henrik can we please have a demos sub forum now. Thank you.

RE: PSP Demos Compatibility
Why a poll?

Yeah I can add a demos forum. But it should also be about nonplayable demo so maybe a subforum under Playable isn't a great idea. Maybe I should make a separate subforums here under Compatibility?

Poll's are cool Tongue
IMO I think you should make a separate subforum. It would be better as even demo games might go ingame/inro/menu/nothing statuses. Thanks a lot again for responding to my opinion.I really appreciate it. Smile
Btw any idea on why the demos seem to crash?

RE: PSP Demos Compatibility
Yeah, the usual demo EBOOT.PBP file format is very different from a standard homebrew EBOOT.PBP, and has some DRM protection too. I don't know the details but some people do, it should just be a matter of a bit of work to get them loading.

RE: PSP Demos Compatibility
The best idea is someone to create a PROPER tutorial to convert them to ISOs. This way most of them should work.

The EBOOT2ISO tool does not work for emulators. It works only for psp's with modded cfw.I tried it long back so i didn't post it here. Currently there are no working tools for conversion of EBOOT to ISO for working demo isos for emulators. And even if there is it does not work.I've done some googling and results were dissapointing.
