PPSSPP makes AMD pilots crash !
Hello,

My drivers are up to date I think, but every 20 mins the emulator f*cking crashes and my screen freezes for 5 sec, then black screen "flashes" and a windows speech bubble appears and says me that AMD's just crashed and has been recovered
My graphic card is an ATI Radeon HD 6870.

PS : sorry for my poor english, I'm french (i know there's french forum don't worry I posted there but I post here too because I think it will reach more people)

Thank you !

RE: PPSSPP makes AMD pilots crash !
I encountered the same problem with Nvidia drivers one time, but it never re-appeared...

♦ Intel Core i7-2630QM | 4 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M | Debian Testing

I have the same problem. But it occurs after a few minutes...
My graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 7600M.

EDIT : On Windows only. Seems to be good with Ubuntu.

My English is not perfect. Sorry if some sentences are incorrect.

Windows 7 x64: Intel Core i5 4570 @3.6 Ghz, ATI Radeon HD 7870
Android 4.4.2 (CM11): Samsung Galaxy S3 @ 4x1.6 Ghz CPU, 600Mhz GPU

RE: PPSSPP makes AMD pilots crash !
Interesting issue.

I'm on an even older AMD Catalyst Driver (11.11a) and PPSSPP only caused my AMD driver to crash once , and that was in a previous revision (0.75 release).

Ever since I started using the 0.76 official release in conjunction with the latest orphis buildbot builds, I've never had a single crash since. I played Monster Hunter Unite for 4 hours straight yesterday and it was completely stable.

PPSSPP Modern Testbed:-
Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.0 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 VRAM @ 1138/6500 Mhz
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

PPSSPP Ancient Testing Rig:-
Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 @ 2.8GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 4670 1GB GDDR3 VRAM @ 843/882 MHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1066 MHz
Windows 7 x64 SP1

Thanks a lot for this. My graphics driver was crashing every 20-30 mins but uninstalling it and installing 11.11a runs like a charm. Played for ~8 hours today no crashes at all.

Just for the record, I have a HD 4650, I had the 13.3 catalyst, installed 11.11a and no more driver crashes. Thanks again.

Edit: I just realized I made a 2 month necro but I think its important that this issue be updated for others that may search and find this thread.

Glad to have helped. I've discovered that the older 11.11a performance drivers are the best ones for older 4xxx series cards like ours, especially in terms of stability and performance, when compared to the newer legacy drivers.

None of the drivers released since can beat it in all those departments for the aforementioned 4xxx series.

RE: PPSSPP makes AMD pilots crash !
I have a AMD 6870 + 13.6 BETA6 and this problem never happened.
I readed somewhere (I think in some PCSX2 commit) that AMD was fixing some bugs regarding OpenGL, so is always nice to have the lastest beta on hands.
If you don't have a legacy card of course (or search for a modded driver in this case).

Disable Catalyst A.I in the AMD Catalyst Control Panel.
