Wide Screen Cheat not working.

I have the latest version of PPSSPP on my android device and I am trying to use the aspect ratio patches that are mentioned here https://forums.ppsspp.org/showthread.php?tid=26189

I have had success in loading in the cheat.db file and adding the widescreen code to each games file. The options do show up for me in the cheat section of ppsspp. So all good up until that point. But when I try to apply the cheat, nothing happens.

I have my display layout set to stretch and I have tried both full screen on and off in the setting.

Nothing seems to be working. The image will stretch and squeeze, but I cannot get it to implement the actual patch.

Anything I am missing here?
