v1.0

Info
Some TCG artwork was used instead of OCG artwork, to have cards with English text in the card images.

Large Card images are generated from other Tag Force ISOs, which were extracted using CIPTool and GimConv. Some images were sourced from Yugipedia or upscaled with Waifu2x if no decent quality artwork images were available from the Tag Force games.

Album sized card anime card images from YGOPRO. About ~300 anime/game exclusive cards, or cards that didn't have a passcode, were created with Anime Yu-Gi-Oh Card Maker.

Instructions
  1. Place all files in C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\PPSSPP\PSP\TEXTURES\NPJH00142\
  2. Activate Texture replacements in PPSSPP settings:
Game Settings > Tools > Developer Tools > Replace textures

Known Issues / Missing Textures
  • Cards with special symbols like ☆ don't display correctly. I will fix this later in v1.2
  • Cards use English name from Yugipedia. Some card names from the translated ISO use similar but incorrect names for some cards.
  • Token cards. There were about 100 and it could not be automated due to missing info on Yugipedia.
  • Card rarity info hasn't been added to Yugipedia, so I was unable to scrape it to make text colored in the large card images.
  • Large card images sometimes contain random garbage data in the bottom right corner which leads to the game using random texture hashes. Occasionally you will see a card that momentarily shows it's old texture. If you know a way to resolve this without using quickHash (breaks text rendering), please let me know.
Future Possible Updates
  • Scraping card rarity and coloring the text in images accordingly
  • Add option for TCG card textures for small card images instead of anime-styled

Special Thanks
xan1242's CIPTool for dumping textures from the game
epicepicness from YGOPRO2 forums for anime-style card images
YGOPRO2 for TCG card images
Forum user GDO-KV2 for providing card icons and card frame textures
Forum user MiyamuraShiro for his Yu-Gi-Oh! Portuguese TF1 remaster project, which got me interested in starting this.
Konami for making Master Duel and modern Yu-Gi-Oh such an awful experience, leading me to go back to older games.

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Tag Force Special HD Cards Texture Pack
I did everything properly, i got the correct required version of the game, everything works fine but the large cards shown on the left side during duels are still in low res, high res large cards appear only when a monster activates its special effect or when a spell/trap card is triggered. everything else works flawlessly. am i doing something wrong? i'm using the last version of PPSSPP on Android

Incredible work! Quick question though, if that's ok. How were you able to get all the texture addresses from the game? Was it only from the texture dump feature in PPSSPP? Thanks!

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Tag Force Special HD Cards Texture Pack
This is absolutely spectacular. I've just tested it and it looks and runs great.
Here are a couple of things I've noticed/suggestions/constructive criticism:
・I can confirm the texture pack works on the original Japanese version of the game without needing any kind of editing.
・I'm personally not a huge fan of the texture edits in the "characters" and "unsorted" folders (I don't think the upscaling turned out too well). However, not installing them is as easy as not copying those folders. It's great that I can pick and choose what parts of the pack I want to install and what I don't.
・This texture pack looks at its best at a rendering resolution and window size of at least 4x.
・New textures take a little while to load in each time you start the game, so if you have a blurry card deselect and and reselect once or twice and it should load in just fine.
・The card names are all in English. I'm a bit of an extreme purist when it comes to Yu-Gi-Oh!, so my personal preference would have been Japanese names. However, this texture pack represents such an incredibly huge leap forward in quality that I still HEAVILY recommend using it even if you are as stubborn as I am.
・This texture pack is simply the best way to play Tag Force. From this point forward playing Tag Force without this texture pack is playing Tag Force "the old way". If you are playing Tag Force on ppsspp, know this texture pack exists, and aren't using it, you are doing yourself a huge disservice.
・As I feel that this is now the definitive way to experience Tag Force, I would like to politely, and humbly, request chrisfand to create similar texture packs for all of the remaining Tag Force games. They have already provided packs for 3, 6, and Special, so the games that currently don't have texture packs are 1, 2, 4, and 5. I would personally love to to have such a great reason to replay the whole series from the start.
Tag Force is a series both wonderful and flawed; with this texture pack chrisfand has excised one of its biggest and most obvious flaws.
Thank you.
