RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
About the emulated CPU clock, there's something wrong with the auto setting.

In both DiRT 2 and Outrun 2006, if you manually put the CPU clock in 333 MHz, all the slowdowns go away, so the auto setting is not identifying the games needs correctly.

But in Gran Turismo, for example, the auto setting does its job well, since the game runs at 60 fps (Gran Turismo only runs at 60 fps if the CPU clock is 333 MHz or higher).

Another problem in Outrun 2006:

- If the internal resolution is higher than 4x, the HUD completely disappears.

RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
"Auto" lets the game decide how much CPU speed it needs (but will never exceed 333mhz) as it does on the real hardware, so there's nothing wrong.

Edit: Confirmed that 5x or higher rendering res removed the HUD and caused black screen issues in the menus.

RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
guys - i'm having a hell of a time trying to get this game to run well on my nvidia shield. Can someone share best settings?

EDIT - I was able to make it work just once but can't remember exactly what I did. Here's what I know so far

Buff mode works best and unchecking fast under the system options is necessary (one that says not stable). Other than that, not sure. I'll keep on plugging away i guess. I'm really not clear if psp speed (333, 222) option is better for less or more....

Bump. I too am having the same issue, not only is the game looking ugly right now on my shield, it's also very choppy and running at about 120% speed, a shame since Outrun 2006 is one of my favourite games Sad

EDIT: Basically what I mean by 'ugly' is that when non-buffered rendering is on, cars don't reflect and the whole stage is covered in a weird, reflective ocean-like texture and if buffered rendering is on then the stage looks mostly fine but the every car has weird lighting effects applied to it like purple tints etc.

No matter how much I fiddle with the settings the visuals just get more deformed and the gameplay remains unplayable choppy!

RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
This is a game that requires buffered rendering, and unfortunately, none of the settings can currently fix its various problems and issues.

Damn... That's too bad I was really hoping to be able to play it on my shield but oh well -__-

I'm just staying hopeful that there will be a fix in the not too distant future..

Playing this on Windows 7. In the first area of Quickplay mode, various parts of the beach display as pure white, and then during the second area, no matter what path I take, there will always be giant black bars (or pieces of scenery) glitching over the screen.

The game is still playable, but these graphical glitches are very annoying and bothersome, especially for a game as beautiful as OutRun.

Here's a screenshot of what the beach looks like:

RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
Hi,

i am using ppsspp on my raspberry pi 4 (as part of RetroPie on a self built arcade cabinet). This game is very well playable,

unfortunately the game crashes in a certain condition. This is very well reproducable:
- Start the game in single player outrun mode
- Chouse the outrun2 courses (it does not crash with the outrun2 sp courses)
- Alway go left when you can chooses which course to take
- it will crash somewhere in the 3rd or 4th course

This is the logging:
Code:

seem to appear at the moment of crash.

I am quite new to ppsspp so i don't know how to analyse. I did try both the US and EU versions of the rom, and both have the same crash.

Can someone help?

RE: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast
In the latest builds, graphics are improved - the car reflections are now working perfectly.

Water is still a bit unreliable - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, needs some more work.
