To be honest I am not entirely sure that the individual character stats are even read by the game. Since individual characters don't level stats, but only change class and overall classes can be leveled bit even then the main reason to do that is to unlock new orders and eventually recruits.

The weapon/armor/ect you equip might be what you should attempt to hack since that does have an individual effect on the character's performance. If you can change what it gives it might actually show an effect.
