RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
@sirquasenada
Do you have a switchable graphics cards ?
If yes, use PPSSPP with the Intel Graphics card. I have a intel core i5 3210 and I have no slowdown.

My English is not perfect. Sorry if some sentences are incorrect.

No dude, i don't have a spare video card, and to make things more sad the motherboards with new chipsets for AMD processors, don't have onboard graphics.

Well, i think i have to wait a proper solution (or get a nvidia card, but only in the next hardware upgrade, maybe in 2014).

See ya

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I also have the same invisibility problem no matter what I set at True/False in the .ini file.

Used version: ppsspp v0.8.1-532

AMD Phenom II Black Edition x4 Mobile Processor X920 (2.3GHz)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
6Gb DDR3 Memory

I really wish this would be playable. I tried the snes version before trying first departure but it also had it's share of problems.

No, it hasn't.

Like I said on my post, it all depends on which graphics card your system is using.

AMD = no

Nvidia = yes (with Buffered Rendering turned off)

Is it planned for that issue to be fixed? If yes then frankly, would it be foolish to expect it anytime this year?
If I have to buy a whole new computer (because you can't really change the graphic card of a laptop) to play this game, then I guess I'll buy the console and the game itself instead.

Well yeah, I remember in the build I have, turning buffered rendering off made the characters show up in battle with backgrounds, but once the battle was over, they would be invisible, so you had to turn it on once you're done with the battle. I guess I could give it a while since I've an nVidia GPU.

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I can play it on my PC (intel core i5 3450 / geforce GT640). Video, BGM, SE, battle are perfect.
PPSSPP ver.:0.8.1-734
buffer rendering turned off.
However, the characters float in front of all the backgrounds. Please refer to the picture.

I believe it's a buffering issue, not sure when it will be fixed

What did I say wrong? I think this video will do a better job explaining than I can do Big Grin

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zyyv_Xds...e=youtu.be

Buffered rendering on: (0:04 in the video)

Invisible characters outside battle
Visible characters in-battle

With Buffered Rendering off: (0:10 in the video)

Visible characters outside battle
Invisible battle backgrounds/only shows HUD

I wasn't trying to confuse anyone Tongue

This game is not playable without having to switch constantly between turning it off and on in order to complete battles or walk around towns and dungeons, can't have one or the other. Star Ocean 2 has this fixed, I hope people will investigate the issue at hand. Using PPSSPP 0.8.1-220-g69d1487 64-bit

Edit: Here's a better example of what's going on Tongue
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmxZKZKzu...e=youtu.be

This should not be happening, characters should be visible before, during and after battles, not one or the other. I mean, granted, one could press F5 to toggle it on/off, but it shouldn't be a required thing to do Wink Not to mention that characters stand in front of roofs and counters and aren't behind them. If it's not okay to post the video links, please let me know ASAP

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
I hope someone can answer this, this makes playing the game somewhat tedious. Characters shouldn't disappear and neither should the battlefields Wink

RE: Star Ocean: First Departure
The issue has been fixed for the most part, but characters stand in front of objects (like roofs, counters, bridges, etc) instead of behind them. I hope someone can identify the issue Tongue

And Buffered Rendering still makes the sprites invisible.
