RE: 0.7 missing audio
The only supported audio so far is PCM, ADPCM, ATRAC and MP3 and there is only a minority of games that use them and even then they use them for minimal stuff like footsteps, speech, fx and veeery rarely for music. The one intresting thing is Phantasy Star Portable that uses for audio the same philosophy as psf2 audio format for PS2 (synthesized music with ADPCM samples) which kinda works with PPSSPP but has it's issues.

Yeah, some games are a bit funny that way. If you look at the log files from for instance Persona 3 it seems to use an audio format called ADX which it then plays with it's own decoder. It does sound perfectly fine in this case however...

RE: 0.7 missing audio
Ugh, I never understood the concept of using ADPCM-based audio on consoles that have a dedicated hardware decoder of a nice psychoacoustic lossy audio compression format that will give the better audio quality for less bandwith and less/equal performance cost. On top of that ATRAC3 and ATRAC3+ belong to the category of the worst formats when we talk about robustness, efficiency and resource demands in the ecosystem of psychoacoustic lossy compression audio formats. Why does $ony have to push a format that is dead over a decade on pretty like any hardware and SDK that relates it's Playstation line? When they will learn that we are not deafs? ADPCM, ATRAC3 and ATRAC3+ belong to the past, I mean PS2 should have been the last console supporting those formats and it's SDK should have been the last to encourage developers on using such formats, but these stupid (and deaf) retards pretty like forced developers to use either ADPCM or ATRAC3+ on PSP (unless they'd go through the trouble of doing undocumented stuff like MP3, which is still as bad as ATRAC3+) and after on PS3 they made developers to make the tough desicion of either PCM 24bit at 48Khz or ATRAC3+ with maximum bitrate of 96kbps. I mean seriously, which child prodigy in their departments came with the idea of making people decide between a lossless format that wastes sooo much important space/bandwith and a format that sucks on it's own and on top of that it's limmited to a very bad bitrate cap? Look a bit further on XBOX360, they used pretty like all open source and free licence formats, including OGG that wastes less resources, less bandwith for better quality. There are times that developers acknowledge this issue with Sony and they try to come around it by building their own way to reproduce audio in their games but most of the times they fail epicly. This company is filled with bull****, and one of those bull**** is when I hear that their Playstation products offer amazing audio experience... Nope, they don't, not even near, forcing developers using ATRAC3+ and ADPCM at the age of 2013 on PS3, PSVita and PS4 SDKs is not just a step but a a marathon jump backwards to quality standars. Oh and it doesn't need an audiophile to hear the difference between let's say GTAIV's audio quality between XBOX360 and PS3, you can't get away when you use 42kbps audio files and expect people to not notice.

RE: 0.7 missing audio
Totally agree that both VAG ADPCM and Atrac3plus are junk. It's very unfortunate in every way.

What annoys me mostly is that they FORCE devs to use them and the proof is their PSP, PSVita, PS3 and PS4 SDKs.
They could have used OGG instead of ATRAC3+ which is an open format too.
They simply have no excuse, they are lameness at it's maximum.
Simply put, why a console like PS3 that outputs 1280x720 + 2xMSAA at 30fps 3D use ADPCM and ATRAC3+ audio? It's like having a Lamborghini with plastic glasses and seats and being limmited to less than 20kmph.

RE: 0.7 missing audio
it's just their way to do things, like always.they tend to push the support for their technology in all of their products (see Atrac,UMD,Video8,Blu-ray).ayway it would be really cool to see ATRAC3 (not plus) and FFMPEG support for PPSSPP, can we expect something for the next release?
