Question VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Anyone tried PPSSPP with A Broadcom chipset Android phone?
I would consider your comments before I buy a new Phone with the Following Specs:

Broadcom 1.3ghz Quad-core CPU (Videocore IV GPU)
1Gb RAM
Android 4.3 Jellybean OS
QVGA resolutuon (Lower Res = Better FPS)

| Testing Rig: Windows10 PC |
->Proc: Intel Core i3 4130
->GPU: Nvidia GTX660 GDDR5 1GB
->RAM: 8GB DDR3

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
This GPU isn't good for 3D graphics, it can run, but not well. The GPU has been made for HD videos and simple stuff. I already tried on a phone which has this GPU, but even the PPSSPP UI was slower. I didn't try any game. I recommend you to go to an Andreno, Mali, Tegra or PowerVR, these are good for PPSSPP.

Phones: Poco F3 8GB/256GB (Snapdragon 870 5G) and Redmi Note 6 Pro 4/64GB (Snapdragon 636)

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / 16GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz / NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti 6GB / Windows 10 Pro

Thanks for the Reply. Im actually considering this as an option before. I guess I'm going for Mali 400mp4 GPU considering Adreno suffers from speed drop & PowerVR for Graphics Malfunction.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Mali-400 has driver issues and shader compile problems. It'll often end up having to fall back to software transform, which will be slow.

I use an Adreno and previously used an Adreno. Unfortunately, I've never used a Mali or Tegra device to compare it with. I have used PowerVR (iPhone) devices but much older ones and with slower CPUs, so hard to compare.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
The old Adreno GPUs aren't bad for PPSSPP, only the new ones which has bad drivers. I have a Mali 400 device, the Galaxy SII, and PPSSPP runs pretty well, even being a old device.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
I researched a bit about GPU benchmarks that leads to VideocoreIV as the lowest of the four. However, in PPSSPP there are more factors that to be considered.

I have a 1.2Ghz Dual-core Mali400-Device with the same spec as my PowerVR and it's a bit slower. And yes, it prompts "hardware transform failed falling back to software" when 3D graphics are shown.
I guess I will still consider Quadcore Broadcom since I'm sick with PowerVR's Known Graphic Bugs in some games I'm Playing,
Just a little Sacrifice in Resolution should do the trick since the device is Heavyloaded with 1280x720 HD Resolution.

Maybe you're not using a good setting on emulador, so it will be slower. Some times I also receive the error message, but it doesn't affect the gameplay at all.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Same Settings with My PowerVR Minus the "Disable Alpha Test" (unchecked)

BTW, there are two realeases of Samsung Galaxy SII right? The Mali400 (1st) & VideocoreIV (plus) but Since you're receiving the message, your phone is Mali400 Tongue Maybe SGS2's Low Resolution + CPU type makes it faster than others?

I guess, Mali400 GPU 1.3Ghz Quadcore Mediatek Processor with 540p resolution with 17.5kAntutuBenchmark Score is enough to play at 30fps x 2xPSP Resolution. (I'll try to test Hardware Transform off in my current device and check the speed-drop rating for reference)

Thx for the Replies.
Most likely, VideocoreIV isn't good for 3D GraphicsGaming as most people said.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Man, if you wanna high speed on android, you must disable buffer rendering or use the resolution in 1x PSP. Also check out System settings, enable Fast Memory, if disabled, and put the CPU Clock in 60.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Dont worry, Im very efficient in using PPSSPP's settings.
Im just assuming the capabilities of a quadcore processor.

My current decice is A PowerVR with Dual core CPU.
Capable of running 15-30fps in MHFU @ Performance-based setting.

I just want to wrap up matters here:
->VideocoreIV is relatively slow
->Mali400MP with slight shader bug (but Software transform in the current version doesn't seem to be far slower than Hardware so it's okay)
->PowerVR, the usual missing graphics bug due to PPSSPP's disabled alpha tests in PVR GPU.
->Adreno, Lower Versions are better compared to newer ones. (disregarding the specs of newer models with Adreno GPU)
Thank you for these infos.

I think I would go for Mali.

RE: VideoCore IV GPU Performace?
Ok, it's fine.
I play on Windows and also on Android (Mali400MP4), and I don't see any bugs on my phone on latest versions, playing on Android or Windows for me is same. The only version I had issues, was 0.7.5 if I'm not wrong, that had a critical issue on all PowerVR and Mali devices when using Hardware Transformation. The most games run fast, even GTA VCS that is a heavy game. I don't worry much about FPS since I can get the games running at 100% speed, the FPS is between 15-30 as well.
